Injection Molding Machine Operator And Inspector - 3Rd Shift
The 3rd Shift Injection Molding Machine Operator and Inspector will be in charge of monitoring assigned molding machines and ensuring that molded parts conform to quality standards. This role will also inspect the quality of the product to determine the acceptability of the product based upon GMP and Inspection.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors automatic molding machines and ensures that parts conform to quality specifications.
Answers Press alarms to maximize press efficiencies.
Performs inspections by sampling for compliance to specifications (Dimensional, Functional and Visual).
Generates / prints molded specifications for proper documentation on inspections.
Reviews procedures to ensure compliance and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
Provides feedback on quality findings to appropriate personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides technical instruction to customers.
Trains customers on technical information relating to ENGEL machinery, including plastics processing, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, electronics, safety, mechanical, machine controller, hardware, software, automation and quality.
Ensures customers are trained thoroughly on the operation and maintenance of the various types of ENGEL molding machines and automation products.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

The Toolmaker supports the BIC Gaffney team by fabricating, modifying, inspecting, and repairing the molds, tools, and assembly machine parts utilized in production and in the tool room. Support daily production by identifying chronic issues and problems that cannot be resolved by production associates.
Implement and coordinate all changes to existing molding processes by writing and approving PSCN's (Process Sheet Change Notices).
Implement and coordinate all changes to existing molds by writing and approving MDCN's (Mold Drawing Change Notices).Work with quality engineering personnel to improve existing procedures and measurement methods.
Function as a leader or team member on cross-functional teams to address assembly/customer quality issues.
Support continuous improvement activities by participating on CI teams, blitzes, 5S teams, Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives.
Identify and drive Cost Improvement Projects (CIP's) to completion.
Support the implementation of new processes and auxiliary equipment to the molding production area.
Write protocols for new and modified processes by coordinating acceptance criteria with the molding quality engineer and assembly engineering as required
Understand DOE methodology and use in developing new process windows and identifying mold tooling and processing improvements.
Collect and statistically analyze data, and document results in process development, IQ and PQ completion reports.
Support the ECO process, including part drawing modifications, material specifications and all other related paperwork.
Specify and/or purchase molds, equipment, tooling, and fixtures for new and existing changes.
Support new product development by supporting molding development engineering, product/process design, quality assurance, and assembly production to identify potential issues in the molding process before it is scaled up in molding production.
Participate in assigned career development training programs, including Validation Practitioner, Molding Toolkit, Six Sigma Green Belt, and Lean Lite training.
Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including HCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.
Comply with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

B.S. degree in an engineering field. Plastics, manufacturing or mechanical engineering degree preferred.
A.S. degree in one of above fields, plus 2 years of plastic injection molding technical experience.
Minimum Experience:Two (2) to Six (6) years of experience (depending on education level) in various engineering fields relating to molding, manufacturing, quality control and process development. Experience with Mold flow software, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Visio, Microsoft Office, and MS Project preferred.

Injection Molding Setup Technician
Set-up, start-up for production, change-over and maintain molding machines, molds, material and their processes to produce quality products for internal and external customers in a safe and productive manner.

Set-up and maintain production of injection molding machines, tooling and processes.
Locate, transport, install and store injection molds in accordance with established guidelines.
Troubleshoot the manufacturing process to diagnose and resolve anticipated or actual manufacturing problems that may affect product quality.
Inspect, clean, and maintain molds and tooling subsequent to each production run.
Develop and document set-up sheets as required for new tooling, major tooling changes and process changes.
Maintain a clean, safe work area.
Perform minor machine maintenance as required.
Read and understand operation layouts and blueprints.
Maintain quality of work as required and report any discrepancies.
Perform other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two year technical degree in related field or equivalent experience as a mold tech (8 years)
3 years experience with operating injection molding equipment.
Ability to set-up and operate assigned equipment.
Ability to perform various operations under minimum supervision, while maintaining required levels of quality and quantity.
Demonstrated skill and ability to use precision measuring equipment.
Knowledge of safety rules and practices.
Attention to detail.
Ability to operate forklift.
Ability to stand/sit/walk, for up to eight hours per day.
Frequent, repetitive elbow movements.
Reaching, grasping, gripping and fine manipulation with hands is required.
Ability to occasionally stoop, bend, lift and/or load up to 40 pounds.
Completion of Math for Manufacturing and Basic Blueprint Reading for Manufacturing.
