Inserter - Day Shift
Description Position at Lincoln Journal Star The Journal Star Packaging department has immediate regular part-time opening (avg 30-35 hours a week) in our regional production facility. Duties include feeding preprinted advertisements into our inserting machine and stacking/loading completed products.
Hourly wage is $9.00 an hour. Inserter Operator - 2Nd Shift
We currently have positions available on the 2nd shift for Inserter Operators . An Inserter Operator is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining equipment used to fold, match and insert multiple pieces of printed material into an envelope.
- Sets up inserting equipment at the beginning of each job according to the specifications provided on the job ticket and runs the inserters
- May operate various inserting equipment
- Inserts address tags into mail sacks, tubs or trays used for bulk mailing of ID Cards, kits, subscription magazines and catalogs
- Keeps work area in order and staged with product and follows prescribed safety regulations
- Performs quality control during each mailing to ensure product meet USPS requirements
- Reads postal statement and sorts mail accordingly
- Maintains equipment, troubleshoots equipment problems, performs prescribed preventative maintenance on equipment as required and identify repairs if needed
- Makes adjustments as required to return output to the proper specifications
- Communicates status of jobs to leads or managers
- Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department manager
Required Education and Experience:
- Mechanical/technical ability
- Experienced machine operator - minimum of 1 full year
- Language Skills- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical Skills- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

This includes the selection of business, understanding costs, market pricing and meeting profitability objectives. 2) Maintain direct field sales contact and negotiating long-term supply agreements with major tubing customers. 3) Work closely with market growth teams for selecting new profitable tube opportunities. 4) Develop and maintain current and detailed knowledge of domestic and international competitors and their capabilities. 5) Represent sales in manufacturing meetings on issues concerning manning, product mix, lead-times and inventory. 6) Manage pricing to obtain finished inventory targets. 7) Serve on cross functional product and problem resolution teams related to manufacture, sale and profitability of tubing products.

Machinist - Tube Bender
Independently sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and/or numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers to fabricate stainless steel high vacuum components.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of machining practices, measurement and evaluation skills, and tooling applications.
- Complete machine setups on a wide variety of specialized and production equipment. Generate first article/first piece product for inspection. Make required adjustments to equipment or programming to maintain compliance with quality standards.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, CNC.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required where applicable.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications as well as within the required tolerance +/- .002 to .005.
- Sets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data where applicable.
- Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance.
- Use, knowledge of measuring tools (dial calipers, ID gauge, threat gauges, height gauges, etc).
- Collaborates with engineers, production personnel, programmers, maintenance or others to resolve machining problems.
- May provide training to other team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
