Master Auto/Diesel Technician - Safety Inspection - Fleet Maintenance
License and Certification Qualifications: Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
School Passenger and School (P&S) Bus endorsements required within three months of hire. Master Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) School Bus Technician and T8 Truck Preventive Maintenance and Inspections required within six months of hire.
High school diploma or equivalent required. Automotive/diesel service technician training at an accredited technical school preferred.
Seven years of experience as an automotive/diesel service technician required.

1.Support the Lead Automotive/Diesel Technician – Safety Inspection to ensure all scheduled inspections are performed on a daily basis.
2.Perform monthly vehicle inspections.
3.Lead inspection team in absence of the Lead Automotive/Diesel Technician – Safety Inspection.
a. Ensure all inspections are performed in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements.
b. Prepare documentation to demonstrate inspection performance on each bus.
c. Communicate with Fleet Management and staff in conjunction with or in the absence of the Lead Automotive/Diesel Technician – Safety Inspection.
d. Update software work order records.
4.Ensure inspection crew operates in a safe and secure environment.
a. Wear appropriate safety gear, to include at least eye and hearing protection and support the Lead Automotive/Diesel Technician – Safety Inspection in enforcing same protocol among all team members.
b. Make recommendations about other safety equipment like flashlights, head lamps, reflective vests and other safety items and assist with the requisition and issue the devices in the absence of the Lead Automotive/Diesel Technician – Safety Inspection.
c. Conduct on-going risk assessments to ensure crew safety.
5.Supervise and perform preventive and corrective maintenance services and safety inspections as directed and according to established standards.
a. Provide and maintain necessary tools to perform services and repairs on GCPS fleet and equipment.
b. Research technical manuals, service bulletins and instructions, equipment diagrams, and parts catalogs in hard copy and on the internet.
6.Supervise and train automotive/diesel technicians and trades helpers.
7.Be available to work assigned shift as directed.
a. Respond to work requirements any time on any day of the week when assigned to on-call duty.
b. Be on call for necessary work 24-hours per day, 7 days per week.
8.Perform other duties as assigned.

Choice of CalPERS Medical Plans. City pays coverage up to the Kaiser rate (currently $2027.64/mo. for family). Employees who waive health coverage are eligible to receive $125 per month in lieu of medical plan coverage with proof of other coverage.
Employees are eligible upon CalPERS retirement from the City to receive up to 100% retiree medical coverage (currently based on the Kaiser health rate), based on years of service.
DENTAL & VISION
City provides full family coverage for Delta Dental and MES Vision at no cost to the employee.
City provides $50,000 term policy. Supplemental employee-paid life insurance is available up to $500,000, based on carrier acceptance.
City provides a Short-Term Disability plan similar to State Disability Insurance (SDI) coverage. Employees do not participate in SDI.
Long-Term Disability coverage of 60% of base salary up to $1,500 per month is available after a 60-day waiting period. Additional buy-up options for LTD are available up to $6,000 per month.
City contributes $75 per month on the employee's behalf.
Hourly employees earn 11-31 days of vacation and Exempt employees earn 16-36 days of vacation based on years of service.
Employees receive 12 paid holidays and one (1) floating holiday per year.
Employees earn 12 days annually.
Employees are eligible to receive up to $1,400 per fiscal year in tuition reimbursement.

Visual Inspection Trainer – 3Rd Shift
Assisting in the development and implementation of visual inspection training, including defect recognition and qualification testing. Responsible for gathering and classifying defects across all product families. Assist in establishing defect test sets including creating a system to evaluate and maintain defective units. Provide training to personnel performing visual inspection as qualification programs are implemented.
Provide training to personnel performing visual inspection.
Inspect and evaluate units for inclusion in defect test sets.
Perform light intensities for all visual inspection equipment daily.
Perform assessments on line.
Must meet the qualifications of a Certified Trainer. Must be able to present training material in an effective manner.
Requires excellent interpersonal skills for working with trainees and within a team.
Must have high school diploma or equivalent with competence in oral and written communication, strong interpersonal skills, and decision-making skills.
Must have the ability to follow detailed written procedures with minimal supervision.
Requires assertive and tactful communication skills.
Satisfactory performance and attendance is required. Knowledge of computer (Word, Excel, and Access).
Requires a high level of organizational skills, high degree of accuracy, excellent interpersonal skills, and good attendance.
Must have 20/20 correctable vision. Required to do occasional lifting in excess of 25 pounds.
NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
Voluntary overtime as requested as well as occasional mandatory overtime.
