GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Continuous Quality Improvement of products, processes and systems by performing the following:
Provide work direction and technical leadership to inspector team
Address and resolve day-to-day quality issues arising from quality inspection
Address and resolve customer complaints expeditiously
Address and resolve supplier quality issues by being the owner of the issues and coordinating among various functional groups
Working as internal lead ISO quality auditor as well as liaison person for external ISO auditor
Maintaining in-process, supplier, receiving and customer quality related data, yield information, 8-D corrective actions for ISO and other records
Responsibilities, Authorities and Decision making:
Day-to-day quality inspection decision making when accept/reject criteria is not clearly documented
Likewise quality decision making for accept/reject for supplier related issues, receiving inspection issues, piece part issues when such interpretation of criteria is required
Interpreting internal documents such as drawings, work instructions, check lists, test procedures, Bill of Material conflicts, specification and tolerance questions etc.
Interpreting IPC-A-610 and other Industrial standards as well as Internal Workmanship standards for production operators, supervisors and QC inspectors
Enforcing the requirements form these internal documents and external and internal standards
Enforcing all applicable ISO certification requirements internally and at suppliers' operations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTHORITIES: This position supervises 5 to 7 non-supervisory positions in the following areas:
Quality Control Inspection - In-Process

Must also be able to perform limited troubleshooting.

OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES: Must have thorough knowledge of inspecting components, parts, materials, products against specified requirements. Some examples include but not limited to: electrical, electro-mechanical, electro-magnetic parts and subassemblies, printed wire assemblies, mechanical parts made from plastic, sheet metal, wires and wire harnesses, connectors, cables, electronic components, integrated circuits, This job also requires knowledge of various industry and Government standards for electrical and electronic products and components such as IPC, RoHS, ANSI, JEDEC, IEC etc.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: IPC certification or equivalent experience, ASQC inspection and quality control certification is desired but not essential.

FIELD INSPECTION SUPERVISOR

Performs (and supervises as directed by the Manager) routine inspection work in petroleum and petrochemical terminals and refineries.
Performs (and supervises as directed by the Manager) inspection work on board barges and ships following API standards and instructions given by Saybolt from time to time; including, without limitation, Saybolt Inspection Handbook #4A.
Performs (and supervises as directed by the Manager) all inspection department work available in the location of the office.
Performs (and supervises as directed by the Manager) API voyage analysis techniques and cargo discrepancy investigations.
Classroom-trained in tank calibration; also has field tank calibration experience if available in the location.
Laboratory-trained in the six most common laboratory tests associated with the work in the location of the office.
Performs (and supervises as directed by the Manager) the training of Inspectors and Senior Inspectors.
Well trained in job safety requirements and supervises on-site safety training of inspection staff; has an exemplary safety record.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Read and understand all job and safety requirements in English.
Understand the chapters of the API Manual of Petroleum Measurement standards that apply to petroleum measurement, sampling, and inspection work.
Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks including entering confined spaces
Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment according to API standards.
Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Saybolt Inspection Handbook Manual #4A, Safety Manual #7, the Core Laboratories Safety and Environmental Manual, and company policies
Have in-depth knowledge of the entire Saybolt safety program for Inspectors; including, without limitation, Safety Manual #7 as promulgated from time to time by Saybolt; have an exemplary safety record; be conscientious about attending, participating and exercising a leadership role in safety meetings; take a leadership role in observing and training other Inspectors in good safety practices.
Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets and in the presence of the normal hazardous conditions of inspection work sites.
Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments.
Have attended Saybolt Ethics training and maintained a record of conscientious adherence to Saybolt's ethics policy and standards.

Perform appropriate investigations of cargo discrepancies of vessels, terminals and inspector procedures, equipment and data.
Perform audits of Inspectors, safety equipment, and safety and inspection procedures as directed by the Manager.
Periodically audit the condition and calibration of all inspection equipment used in the location, including entry of calibration results in the calibration records; train Inspectors and Senior Inspectors in correct equipment calibration procedures and record keeping.
Ability to assume the role of Scheduler during vacations and temporary absences of the regular Scheduler or Manager.
Assist the Manager and Schedulers with auditing of field documents when the workload demands.
Assist the Manager with performance evaluations of all Inspectors and Senior Inspectors at the location, based on actual observance of their field performance capabilities.
Perform other inspection department duties assigned by the Manager or Scheduler.
Willing to travel to other locations for brief periods to assist as necessary and qualified.

Familiarity with basic computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet programs is helpful but not required; however Field Supervisors must possess the capability to learn these applications through instruction provided by Saybolt.

TRANSPORTATION TO JOB SITES
Field Supervisors must have a vehicle in good, safe operating condition that can be used on the job for both personal and sample transportation in all ambient weather conditions. Field Supervisors are required to maintain the proper levels of automobile liability insurance on vehicles used for Saybolt assignments. Field Supervisors must also maintain a valid driver's license. Local travel and occasional out-of-town assignments are required.
Field Supervisors must be ready to accept job assignments at any time, including scheduled days off. Overtime must be worked as required. They must be able to work in refineries, terminals, and on board marine vessels as necessary. Field Supervisors must wear a pager at all times when on duty. Field Supervisors are required to have a telephone in their residence where they can be contacted.
Attendance and leadership at monthly safety meetings is required. Field Supervisors are required to take a leadership role in the analysis of cargo discrepancies and voyage analysis.

Inspection supervisor, report to a Quality Manager, manages quality inspection team by initiating, coordinating, training and enforcing instructions, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. The position is located in Newark, CA.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Control Quality Inspection process: review and implement assembly drawing, BOM, MPI, ECN, Deviation and other manufacturing related procedures and instructions for inspection to ensure conformity with quality specifications per IPC 610 standard requirement.
Mange Incoming, Final product, and out of box inspection resource, set inspection priorities, daily schedule, inspection tasks to ensure on time delivery. Lead incoming material inspection, SMT line PCBA final inspection, and mechanical Box Build inspection.
Prepare and provide the necessary tools, equipment and instructions for inspection activities; assist Engineer to compile First Article Inspection Report, perform cosmetic inspection, functional test validation of PCBA and/or Box builds when needed. Schedule and arrange inspection personnel to support production and shipment including different shift coverage, over time and weekend support if required.
Supervise and build inspection team, select, develop and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation of the function; train new hires to perform inspection activities; cross-train inspectors to support all inspection activities.
Analyze inspection data, provide inspection report, lead process improvement activities, perform process audit, assist engineer for first level failure analysis.
Other tasks and responsibilities related to Quality Inspection function as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
High school diploma as minimum, college degree is preferred.
