Semiconductor Wafer Fab Integration Engineer
A Semiconductor Wafer Fab Integration Engineer is required by the Microcircuit Emulation Center at SRI International (formerly Sarnoff Corporation) to ensure manufactured microcircuits (integrated circuits) meet all necessary requirements before they reach the customer. The Wafer Fab Integration Engineer performs a variety of tasks including wafer lot inspection, root cause analysis, and the collection and interpretation of both physical and electrical data.
The successful candidate will have experience in semiconductor processing, testing, and device physics. Responsibilities include:
Hands on inspection and data collection of wafer lots being processed in the Wafer Fab.
Organizing and applying FMEA methods to resolve issues as they arise in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Collaboratively define new technology requirements for the Emulation programs. This will require interaction with circuit designers, program management, and industry sources.
Characterize solutions to technical challenges through physical and electrical methodologies.
Define electrical parametric and reliability testing programs, and specifications for technologies being maintained and developed in support of the Emulation programs
Operation of and being highly competent in techniques including microscopy, spectrometry, ellipsometry, and other Wafer Fab metrology systems.
Providing and implementing solutions for continuous improvements in yield, cycle time, and cost.
Work with Process Engineering and others to improve and develop processes.
Communicate process data and actions through meetings, presentations, and reports to management and customers.
Executing all activities in line with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security requirements.
BS in Physical Sciences, Electrical Engineering, or a related subject.
Due to government requirements candidates must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
Minimum 2 years' hands-on experience in Semiconductor fabrication including process integration (advantageous in Silicon Bipolar, CMOS, and/or Analog Technologies)
Candidate will be required to spend in excess of 65% of their work day in a Cleanroom.

Wafer Fabrication Technician - 2nd Shift Position
2nd Shift is a 4 day, 10 hour shift. Tuesday – Friday 2:30PM – 1:00AM
Work under limited supervision using process sheets, written and verbal instructions, and MES (manufacturing execution system) to perform a variety of silicon, gallium arsenide, gallium nitride and thin film operations as defined by supervision to produce integrated and hybrid circuits. Ability to work with various hand tools including but not limited to: Tweezers, specific gravity meters, beakers, graduates, spray guns, vacuum and mechanical pickup handling aids, dispensers, work holders and other related hand tools and equipment.
Ability to wear special cleanroom garments and PPE (personal protective equipment), wrist straps.

A Day in the Life
This individual will provide technical support through competencies in Fluid Mechanics/Dynamics, MEMS, wafer micro-fabrication processes, semiconductor equipment and test method development. At the outset, this individual will help establish an upcoming R&D wafer line by developing, validating and owning new microfabrication processes for the deposition & patterning of key polymer layers in the glucose sensor. Much of the Engineer's innovation will focus on wafer fabrication techniques or adapting techniques to a wafer platform for thick & thin film polymer deposition and patterning. This will include hands-on work with wafer/semiconductor equipment and the validation of this equipment to support the new processes. The engineer will also develop and improve test methodologies to evaluate and continuously monitor the new processes. There will be a strong focus on ensuring high capability processes to enable successful transfer to manufacturing.
While under guidance of a technical manager/mentor, the engineer will be expected to perform independently on larger scale projects and is responsible for experimental & process design, data analysis, troubleshooting processes, collaborating within & across functions, and writing technical documentation. He/she will work with other engineers and technicians to execute experiments and accomplish project objectives. The individual will manage an agreed schedule to achieve project goals in a fast paced environment within specified timelines and resources.
There is a strong technical leadership path available to successful candidates. The engineer will have the opportunity to develop and provide technical guidance/leadership in process development, process transfer to manufacturing and quality assurance as part of multiple cross-functional development teams. Semiconductor Manufacturing Operator
