General Assembly - Soldering
The Assembler II position is responsible for soldering circuit boards for conformance to CPI and IPC-610 Class 2 standards to ensure quality and must be able to perform advanced level 2 soldering skills.
Inspect work product for conformance to CPI and IPC 610 Class 2 standards.
Inspect and perform level 2 soldering skills.
Installation of mechanical and electrical components including the operation of basic and advanced assembly equipment, and removal of pins from headers.
Some product testing and machine operation.
Provide initial counts of bags and labels for orders (take inventory).
Locate correct materials from packaging area.
Bag and package product and place in box with shipping label attached.
Completion of MO forms, recording of MOs in shipping log and delivery to shipping area.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience working in an electronics manufacturing environment preferred.

Electronics Technician qualified and trained to support electrical/mechanical fabrication and limited testing associated with aerospace related or comparably critical systems. Tasks include cable / harness fabrication, surface mount and thru-hole soldering, test box layout (including drilling / punching boxes to accept connectors, test points, etc.). Candidate will support multiple missile and fire control programs.
Must be a detailed worker, capable of following written and oral instructions from engineering drawings and other inputs. Candidate must have a Secret Security Clearance.
Candidate must be able to pass LM provided solder and harness fabrication training. Former soldering training.
Familiarity with cable/harness fabrication, manual soldering (SMT and Thru-Hole), test box layout (including drilling/punching boxes to accept connectors, test points, etc.) is desired. Knowledge and use of basic test equipment such as multimeters as well as basic AC/DC circuitry is preferred.
Related military experience and previous LMC experience is a plus. IPC-620, IPC-610 and J-STD-001 certification highly desirable.

Perform a variety of manual or machine assembly tasks associated with building Printed Wiring Board (PWB) or unit Assemblies for various aerospace applications. Typical duties/tasks include:
Assemble a variety of electronic units using proper assembly techniques (of varying complexity)
Identify correct parts, components, wires and other materials by part markings, color codes, container labels, etc.
Utilize a variety of hand tools (manual and power)
Solder electronic components
Operate assembly machines
Measure, mix and apply a variety of chemicals and adhesives
Perform measurements using measuring instruments
Read and interpret assembly instructions, process instructions and engineering standards
Utilize computer systems (e.g. work instructions, labor charging, and standards)
Process material requisitions in accordance with established procedures
Generate Non-Conforming Material (NCM) reject tags (short & long form) and respond to corrective actions (CA's)
Check and verify per work instructions
Recognize and take steps to resolve assembly/work area issues
Perform material handling tasks
Maintain accurate records of all work performed (e.g. labor charging, verification, assembly data, route card)
Train other employees and perform other duties as assigned
Transport product with or without product carts; lift up to 35 pounds unassisted; sit and or stand at workbench/machines/flow line for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, reach, turn as required; use hands for extended periods of time to perform assembly (e.g. grasping, holding, picking, placing, twisting, fine manipulation); utilize magnification devices for extended periods of time to perform verification, assembly & soldering; distinguish colors and meet vision requirements.
Work Environment Characteristics
Work with chemicals and adhesives that may emit fumes, high temperature equipment / materials, equipment with moving parts, manual / light power tools, products of various weights and sizes, high air pressure, enclosed x-ray and laser machines.
Wear static-control and personal protective equipment.

This role performs clean, efficient and highly reliable surface mount and through-hole component replacement, repairs and modifications and repairs to PCB's. You will work directly with the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and other members of the team to support the department needs.
Requirements & Responsibilities:
Activities include performing a wide variety of electronic or electro-mechanical rework tasks in support of engineering and service requirements. Work from rough schematics, blueprints and oral instructions to repair or modify assemblies, sub-assemblies and components. Installs engineering directed change orders (ECO's). Perform surface mount and through-hole soldering, sometimes under a microscope. Melt and apply solder along adjoining edges of workpieces to solder joints, using soldering iron. Melt and separate soldered joints to repair misaligned or damaged assemblies. Adjust mechanical parts, using hand tools and soldering iron. Perform rework and quality testing. Perform repairs in accordance with appropriate Quality Standards and industry soldering practices. Will be expected to perform new product development support; build prototype PCB's and assemblies utilizing marked-up drawings and schematics. Inspect work to ensure accuracy and quality. Accurately enter/document all work performed on product within the ERP system to ensure accurate recording of inventory consumed and work performed. Work frequently includes interaction with development and/or design and manufacturing engineering personnel.

The Assembler- Soldering Technician will be responsible for performing a variety of assembly operations on electronic components and sub-assemblies on the production line utilizing work process procedures, written instructions, diagrams, and specifications. Primary work is conducted under a microscope for SMT devices, utilizing small hand tools, machinery or applicable materials, while soldering and reworking components and assembling to printed circuit boards utilizing a soldering iron.

- Use of Moisture Sensitive Device (MSD) handling requirements based on component moisture sensitive levels (MSL).
- Soldering capabilities of all component types, both thru-hole and surface mount devices, heating soldering iron or work piece to specified temperature for soldering.
- Remove & replace components on assemblies from molten solder not meeting workmanship standards.
- Clean/polish work pieces and tip of soldering iron using chemical solution, file, or wire brush.
- Apply flux to work piece surfaces in preparation for soldering.
- Align and clamp work pieces together, using rule, square, or hand tools, or position items in fixtures, jigs or vise.
- Melt and apply solder to fill holes, indentations and seams of fabricated metal products using soldering equipment.
- Examine product to verify conformance to workmanship standards.
- Solder, wrap and coat wires to ensure proper insulation.
