Part Time (Weekdays and Weekends)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES FOR INSTRUCTOR:
Educate people about animals and their care through a variety of programs such as onsite and offsite school classes, day camps, Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops, toddler play groups and birthday parties while handling animals, managing the group, and adhering to provided curriculum. Attend to the safety and wellbeing of animals, clients, and volunteers at all times.
Organize set up and cleanup of spaces utilized for programs including decorating for birthday parties. Load up vehicles with supplies and animals in carriers for offsite presentations, being mindful of weather and location restrictions, travel time, and safe driving techniques. Lead people around Helen Woodward Animal Center while maintaining group safety and focus.
Complete animal care responsibilities as needed and keep current in animal care and handling techniques. Keep current in knowledge about domestic and wild animals, the natural environment and other related topics in humane education. Assist with training of staff/volunteers.
Maintain excellent customer service when interacting with clients. Perform various office tasks as needed, such as determining presentation order of scheduled programs, taking payments, acquiring signed waivers or photo releases, copying documents, passing out flyers, and decorating for seasonal events. Maintain compliance with the Center's policies and procedures.
Perform all duties in accordance with established Center safety standards. Participate in Center activities and events as required. Complete other assignments as required. Represent the Center's standards of professionalism.

Program Instructor - Recreation Program Instructor
Description
The Herb Young Community Center and Middle Creek Community Center are seeking recreational instructors to teach a variety of programs.
To become an instructor, an individual must possess strong teaching skills; be positive, organized and dependable; have good communication skills; be prompt and reliable; and demonstrate a desire to develop and promote the program. We are interested in classes and workshops that are unique or fill a specific community need. Selections are made based on the instructor's qualifications and experience, date and time availability, preferred location, need for the program, and marketability of the program.
The Recreation Instructor performs in role of instructor to teach a variety of subjects to various ages of students throughout the HYCC and MCCC community centers. Specific duties may vary depending upon assignment.
Work is performed under regular supervision of the full-time community center staff following regularly established routines subject to more general instructions. Work requires considerable public contact.

Typical Tasks

Communications Instructor - Camp Lejeune
The Enlisted College relies on successful development and delivery of four newly designed courses to achieve its mission; leadership philosophy, warfighting philosophy, sustaining the transformation, and communication. The communications course is designed to prepare Marines for the application of concepts and techniques necessary to engage in personal and professional communications in all forms. Acquiring communications support services for each SNCOA will equip the Enlisted College with experienced, credible professionals required to develop and deliver a comprehensive communications package.
The Enlisted College has a requirement for technical and professional services support to execute education technology management services and the communications continuum from Sergeants to Advanced School. The scope of this effort entails technical, analytical, and programmatic support to implement and sustain mission capabilities through execution of critical requirements derived from a comprehensive communications program. This reinforces the vital importance that is placed on a Marine to learn to communicate effectively – the ability to read, understand, write, speak, sway, defend, and influence – as central pillars of enlisted education and an essential capability Marines will need to act on intent and empower their subordinates in the future operating environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- In collaboration with Government curriculum developers, functional area team leads, academic officers and curriculum development officers, provide subject matter expertise for the maintenance and sustainment of communications curriculum in the Sergeant, Career, Advanced Schools, and Faculty Advisor’s Course.
- Conduct research and analysis of lesson material to ensure the curriculum leads students to the required learning outcomes.
- Provide support for research and development of professional military education programs and curricula to improve the quality of the Enlisted College’s communications continuum. The Contractor shall participate and provide input in the Enlisted College’s annual Curriculum Content Review Board (CCRB), held at Quantico, Virginia for the analysis of collected
- Provide instructional support services for the execution of the identified lessons within the communications continuum for the Enlisted College. This shall include direct support to students, faculty, and staff at designated SNCOAs in the process and assessment of effective written and oral communication.
- Deliver formal classroom instruction according to the communications continuum. All periods of instruction will be scheduled by the academics officers according to the approved POI.
- Participate in student monitoring and evaluation. The Contractor shall monitor and evaluate student progress appropriate to each school’s communications learning outcome.
- Maintain instructor and student materials including evaluations and evaluation criteria. These files shall be provided to the academic officer and retained as Government Furnished Materials at each academy at the conclusion of each school cycle.
- Masters Degree Preferred in Communications or related field
- Teaching background with proven documented experience in adult education at the undergraduate level.
- Familiar with and adhere to established command and staff procedures expecially those involving staff coordination and chain of command.
- Documented work experience using research sources such as the National Archives, online libraries, and other services.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Capable of working efficiently in a military staff environment that requires coordination both internally and externally with TECOM. Purpose: Provide resident training and instruction to students attending Field Artillery Warrant Officer Basic Course (WOBC) and Warrant Officer Advanced Course (WOAC). Conduct academic instruction, provide input for updates/training to the Program of Instruction (POI); and maintain and update lesson plans in support of the Field Artillery WOBC and WOAC courses.
Responsibilities:
- Shall follow the Government provided Program of Instruction (POI) and prepare to teach to standard the contents of each POI. This includes ensuring class begins and ends on time IAW the government approved schedule. The instructors shall ensure all required resources are on hand and in good working condition NLT 15 minutes prior to beginning scheduled training.
- The instructor shall ensure at the end of each class that all students complete a Course Evaluation Assessment (critique). Shall provide the critiques to the COR within 2 business days of the end of each class.
- Shall evaluate students on their assigned subject matter under field, simulated, and classroom conditions. The instructors/operators shall maintain competence as their assigned position, which requires continual self-education on emerging technological advances in Field Artillery capabilities and updates to doctrine. The instructors/operators shall coordinate with the COR for review and approval of all training sessions.
- Shall administer examinations, evaluate test results, correlate test results of the students’ ability, and provide recommendations to academic deficiency panels on changes and student status.
- Shall analyze individual and class academic duty performance, and shall provide recommendations for improvement to the COR concerning course materials, methods of instruction, and performance evaluation when requested.
- Shall be responsible to assist in preparation, set-up, and tear-down of necessary equipment, including vehicles prior to and at the conclusion of daily operations.
- Shall perform limited emergency repairs such as changing tires, fuse replacements, etc. Repairs are performed at the discretion and abilities of the operator, based on established procedures and the extent of repair needed.
- Shall operate and clean government owned or government leased vehicles and equipment when returning from field training, utilizing wash racks and pressure washing facilities. Driver’s shall also clean cab and vehicle interior by removing trash and dirt, picking items up, and/or removing dirt and mud/.

Must have ability to stand for extended periods while remaining alert. Must have ability to work in a loud, humid environment. This position takes place in water, and candidates must be able to remain in the water during lessons.
