Description
WakeMed Soccer Park is seeking energetic, creative, and top-quality individuals at least 18 years of age who are enthusiastic about working with elementary-aged children to serve as a Summer Day Sports Camp Instructor. Candidates must be available to work an average of 30-40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule, Monday through Friday, mid-June to early August.
General responsibilities will be to effectively plan, organize, and instruct recreational sports activities for summer day camps. Specific details for the position are included in "Typical Tasks" below.
Employment starts June and runs through August. Additional employment possible beyond August. Selected applicants must participate in a four day training session in late May to early June (date TBA) before camps begins.
Typical Tasks
Researches, plans and instructs camp activities;
Sets up and takes down equipment;
Carries out behavior management procedures and handles camper emergencies;
Assists with camp opening and closing;
Assists with camper drop-off and pick-up;
Performs other job-related tasks as required.
Develops age-appropriate activities to keep children active and help them develop skills, teamwork and sportsmanship;
Use group management skills to engage all children in daily activities. Some sports instructors concentrate in specific activities such as soccer, basketball, or tennis. Others will lead a variety of activities such as Ultimate Frisbee and flag football.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to acquire knowledge of Town of Cary policies, procedures, and services of the department; Requires good organizational and time management skills; Knowledge of principles and techniques instructions and leadership of recreation activities, program content of youth programs, and supervisory techniques; General knowledge of traditional camps; General knowledge of equipment and supplies required for camp operation; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to maintain and establish effective working relationships with general public and with other staff; Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions; Ability to exercise judgment in controlling the activities, behavior, and safety of camp attendees.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old;
Prefers CPR and First-aid Certification, or the ability to acquire upon hire.
Prefers previous leadership experience in a camp setting;
Requires experience in organizing relevant recreational or sports activities with youth or children;
Must be able to work all camp weeks mid-June - early August. No camp will be scheduled the week of July 4th.
Requires drug testing and background check (which may include criminal check, education verification and credit history review) prior to employment.
Sports Instructor
- Provides instruction in one or more sports activities.

Under the supervision of the Director of Sports-Recreation & Sports Coordinator, the Itty Bitty Sports Instructor will provide guided instruction in the areas of youth sports - including basketball, soccer, t-ball, and more for ages 3 to 8 years (possibly older as well). General Overview of the Position Benefits Supplemental Questions
Under the supervision of the Recreation Program Specialist, the Youth Sports Instructor is responsible for the instruction and supervision of participants in the program. The instructor will engage young athletes through demonstration and teach a variety of youth sports including football, t-ball, basketball, soccer and gymnastics.

After School Lego & Sports Instructor

Our part time After School Sports & LEGO Instructors lead children in grades K-5 through different drills, games, and friendly competitions.
