POSITION QUALIFICATION SUMMARY:
The Senior Design Engineer will be a member of the Praxair R&D Applications Equipment team. The Combustion CFD Developer ("Developer") is responsible for advancing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations software, with emphasis on turbulent reacting flow for simulating combustors and combustion engines, while also contributing to other reacting-flow application areas as need arises. MS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering

Plan, implement, and monitor moderate-level, full project development including mechanical and manufacturing aspects of project design.

Experience with product design; SolidWorks a plus

The successful candidate for this role will participate in product & technology roadmap development efforts for HTS Burners and will be accountable for delivering on Burner NPI's identified through this process. Primary responsibility is to establish and lead the Global HTS Burner NPI team. Key elements of this role will be the recruitment and training of team members, Designers, Lab Technicians and Engineers. Ongoing daily management of these individuals and related test facilities to insure successful delivery of burner NPI's.
This role will be responsible for insuring compliance with existing policies and procedures with respect to testing practices and documentation of results as well as establishing new procedures when gaps are identified. This role will work and cooperate/collaborate with all HTS Burner Testing locations including Muncie, Suzhou, Vilvoorde and Lotte.
This position requires a strong engineering background with a solid understanding of combustion and the application of combustion products and will report to the HTS Engineering Manager
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Supervise and drive global Burner NPI projects, in Muncie, Lotte and Suzhou, from the product ideation phase through commercial product release.
Improve the development process with a focus on speed utilizing new methods and tools such as CFD modeling.
Manage the NPI Burner team, including Engineering personnel, Designers and Lab Technicians.
Recruitment, Training and Development of the technical team.
Day to day operation and maintenance of the combustion lab facility
Scheduling both product development and customer support testing.
Execute lab improvements and upgrades.
Insure all projects follow the NPI process using Accolade.
Insure timely completion of gate requirements.
Establish testing and operational procedures to insure accurate and repeatable test results.

YOU MUST HAVE
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Physical Sciences (Physics, Chemistry, etc.)
Minimum 5 years engineering experience along with product design experience
Minimum 3 years experience in combustion
Experienced technical manager with proven human resource management skills.
Excellent focus on execution, with the ability to manage multiple demands on available resources.
Strong Engineering background with a solid understanding of industrial combustion products and applications.
Good leadership and managerial skills including coaching and mentoring of newly created teams
Excellent interpersonal skills required to negotiate priority in a matrix organization and to work across business boundaries
