SUMMARY Irrigates crops using syphon tubes and flood irrigation, in order to provide adequate water application while maximizing water utilization and irrigation equipment.
Operates a four-wheeler or pickup truck as needed for transportation, and assisting in irrigation to get the job done. As directed, assists in spring and fall pasture, field, and ditch preparation; assists in moving, sorting and working cattle as needed; assists in estrus detection, calving observation. RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms various tasks as assigned by the Farm, Feedlot, and/or Area Manager.Irrigates crops by setting and adjusting syphon tubes, and flood irrigation according to an irrigation schedule established by the Farm Manager/Foreman.Cleans and maintains ditch banks by burning and spraying weeds to ensure an adequate flow of water to the farm, and prepares ditches and fields for irrigation by cleaning ditches or dragging pastures.Assists with sorting, moving, or working cattle.

Irrigator (Corporate Headquarters - Emmett, Idaho)
Under direction of the Ground Maintenance Supervisor, employee performs work related to the maintenanceof City irrigation systems and City owned parks and properties. Operates various types of light equipment (i.e. backhoe and trencher),hand tools, and power tools in the maintenance of parks and buildings; mows lawn with riding lawnmower, push mower, or tractor, operates weedeater for extended periods of time, uses shovels, picks, clippers, hand pruner, chain saw, wrenches, etc. to performduties such as edging, trimming trees and shrubs, planting trees, shrubs, and flowers, repair and maintenance of equipment andplayground equipment, installing playground equipment, etc. in a safe manner. Cleans park grounds area, playground area, and other
City owned properties by picking up trash, broken glass bottles, and any other types of debris, and dumping into appropriatereceptacle; waters park grounds as required; sweeps sidewalks, cleans rest rooms, pavilions, swimming pool area, etc. to maintainclean and safe environment for visitors. Distributes fertilizer, uses herbicides and insecticides to treat lawns, shrubs, trees and right-of-way areas in a safe manner.
Performs building maintenance duties such as painting, makes minor repairs of buildings such asplumbing. Installs, repairs, and maintains playground equipment. Responds to inquiries and complaints from the general publicregarding rules and regulations of park area, parks and wildlife regulations and Lake Mineral Wells State Trailway in a professionalmanner.
Performs manual labor duties such as digging holes, pouring cement, setting fence posts, preparing plant area, etc. in a safemanner. Performs minor maintenance duties of equipment such as changing oil. Monitors park area to ensure safety of all visitors suchas ensuring all pets are on leash and reporting any suspicious activity to proper authorities; summons law enforcement or otheremergency personnel via two-way radio or telephone.
Coordinates park activity with large groups such as Summer Day Campactivities, Day Care Facilities, etc. in a professional and courteous manner.
Provides technical direction to Community ServiceWorkers or JTPA personnel when working at assigned area. Moves furniture and other equipment as required or assigned.
Maintainand repair drip irrigation and sprinkler systems located in park or city owned properties in an accurate and timely manner. May serveas resident caretaker for city owned Parks when assigned. Performs duties such as receiving complaints from public, working closelywith Police Department to ensure security for visitors.
Works closely with Animal Control to remove animals from Park area that maybecome a threat to park visitors. Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications TCEQ Licensed Irrigator or Irrigation Technician with two years field experience.
Must have valid Texas Driver s License and driving record must meet or surpass guidelines as set forth by the City. May be required to attain Texas Structural Pest Control License and/or Pool and Spa Certification. Knowledge and experience in maintenance, trouble shooting, installation and the programing of irrigation systems.
Good knowledge of the methods, techniques, materials, and equipment used in park, athletic field, swimming pool, playground, and cemetery maintenance. Some knowledge of chemicals and pesticides used in grounds and building maintenance. Some knowledge of building maintenance such as painting, minor plumbing, framing and building renovation.
Ability to read and interpret charts, tables, technical handbooks, gauges, dials, meters and chemical labels. Ability to operate light equipment, hand tools, and power tools such as lawnmower, weed-eater, tractor, saws, wrenches, shovels, post hole digger, etc.. Temporary full time position from 3/15/2018 to 10/15/2018Job duties may require split and/or straight shifts depending on irrigation needs, such as 7:00 to 11:00 AM and 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of livestock and hay.
The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to Irrigation. General Farm Work will include the following responsibilities:maintain, drive, attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate; make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; may mix and/or spray chemicals (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable); remove rocks from field; paint/repair farm structures; replace/repair/build fencing/corrals, including digging holes and setting/pounding posts, replacing wire; perform general clean up of farm areas; operate all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties. Flood Irrigation: lift gate in side of flooded irrigation ditch/pipe permitting water to flow into bordered section of field; shovel and pack dirt in low spots of embankment or cut trenches in high areas to direct water flow; close gate in ditch/pipe when bordered section is flooded; shovel or hoe soil to clear ditches/furrows and build embankments to appropriately channel water; move tarp/dams and boards.
Keep head gates free of debris by cleaning with a shovel and pitch fork.Other duties as assigned, include: Check physical characteristics, observe general condition of livestock and apply the appropriate care; examine animals to detect illness/injury/disease, rate of weight gain; apply or administer medications, vaccines and/or insecticides; mix feed/additives and feed/water livestock; maintain livestock watering areas; place mineral blocks; saddle and ride horses herding livestock; wrestle/brand livestock Instruction, training, and general supervision will be provided by the farm operator or a designated employee. However, the worker must perform required duties without close supervision and listen to, understand, and follow simple instructions of the employer or supervisor.
All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned will be provided at no charge to the worker. The worker will be required to return worn out supplies before new supplies will be provided. Most duties are performed out of doors and entail exposure to heat, cold, dust, rain, and other environmental conditions common infields, including mosquitoes during certain seasons.
