PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES\\:1. Follows all standard laboratory procedures and policies, including patient preparation and identification. Properly collects and prepares specimens including labeling, handling, preservation or fixation, processing, transportation and storage. Critically evaluates specimens & correlates all lab results to the clinical picture of each individual. Communicates and documents testing and results in a timely manner to clinical personnel involved in patient care. Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks, and maintains clinical lab instruments & equipment with appropriate documentation. Recognizes & corrects basic instrument malfunctions; refers serious problems to supervisor. Maintains competency as assigned with timely completion of testing.2. Follows Lean Principles and standard work, laboratory procedures and policies. Adheres to all laboratory procedures, policies and Job Guidance Sheets. Meet department defined turnaround times by working collaboratively with all parts of the process. Gives constructive input to improve processes.3. Follows CAP and all regulatory guidelines, demonstrating consistent adherence to national safety goals. Shows improvement in decreasing common verified errors.4 . Maintains a professional knowledge base of laboratory science by accumulating the minimum CEUs required per year . Participates in departmental meetings, inservices, & committees (quality assurance, safety, infection control).

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or successfully completed three years of academic study with a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited college or university, and completion of 12 months of training in an accredited school of Medical Technology.

Has successfully completed three years or 90 semester hours in an approved college or university and has experience or training covering several fields of medical laboratory work for at least one year in the specialty or sub-specialty in which the individual performs tests.
Have completed on or before February 28, 1992 the necessary education and experience pre-requisites to qualify for proficiency examination approved by HHS/HEW.
Certification by the ASCP Board of Registry/Board of Certification (Bachelor's degree not required if registered before 1960), if educated in the United States or ASCP eligible. Must be registered with the ASCP within 6 months of hire. Employees hired before May 1, 2003 are grandfathered into the previous requirements and are exempt from the necessary registration.
Have had their academic degrees obtained outside the United State and its territories validated by an approved member of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services, Inc. (NACES) as equivalent to those granted by an accredited college or university in the United States. Meet the requirements of highly complex testing by CLIA 88.

Has passed a proficiency examination for Clinical Laboratory Technologists approved by HHS.
Problem solving skills are required. Communication skills are required. Performing scientific testing on laboratory instruments is required. Knowledge of particular testing to be performed is desired. Ability to use lab equipment, general clerical equipment, telephones and computers is required. Job requires continuous reading skills, verbal communication skills and written communication skills.

Pharmacist (1.0) CHI Health Good Samaritan
The Staff Pharmacist contributes to the CHI Health vision and mission by providing assistance to the Supervisor - Pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist ensures the quality of service and continuity of patient drug therapy and care.
This position contributes to the Mission and Vision of CHI Health by serving as a staff member that coordinates patient care with other team members in the Specialty Pharmacy. The Staff Pharmacist provides support to the pharmacist supervisor; as well as functioning as an individual contributor within the department. Participates with other pharmacy team members in operationalizing CHI Health Strategic Initiatives and Priorities. Serves as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes an awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission, Vision, Pledge and Commitments of CHI Health.
Job duties and Responsibilities\:
Provides direct pharmacy services to patients, including compounding, dispensing, counseling and advising.
Communicates and interacts with hospital staff and physicians in all matters of services and drug therapy as appropriate.
Maintains professional attitude with patients, visitors and other hospital personnel. Safeguards and retains confidentiality of patient and employee information, using only as needed to perform legitimate duties. Safeguards passwords and other authorizations which allow access to information.
Inspects inventory to ensure that drugs which are out-dated are removed from stock and replaced.
Assists to maintain the department in a neat, clean and orderly manner.
Participates in the development and implementation of policies and procedures for pharmacy operation.
Represents the pharmacy on committees and at meetings, as requested by the Supervisor-Pharmacy and/or Manager – Pharmacy.
Assists to maintain established department policies, procedures and objectives concerning quality assurance, safety, environmental conditions and infection control.
Assumes responsibility for personal and professional growth through participation in department meetings, in-service programs and continuing education programs. Fulfills yearly education requirements as stated by policy.
Monitors and assists with the utilization and quality improvement surrounding the use of automated technology.
Post graduate experience in patient care is required. Five years experience as a practicing pharmacist is preferred with two years of that experience in a retail, specialty, or disease state specialty setting applicable to specialty pharmacy patients preferred.Required\: A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or a Pharm D. Current, unrestricted license as a Pharmacist in the state of Nebraska is required and any state in which the pharmacy may operate that require a non-resident licensure (or if the license is restricted, the pharmacy has a process to ensure job functions do not violate the restrictions imposed by the state licensure board.
