How you will impact WestRock:

The Press Operator 2 has overall accountability for all activities related to operating a multi-unit press efficiently, safely and accurately. This is a leadership role responsible for directing the work of the press crew and providing coaching and training to crew members. Perform proper machine start-up and shut down procedures.

Place blade in press, ensure blade is located in press as instructed by die setter, making sure blade is against locators.
Punch press operation, activate the press using the two hand trip or foot pedal, ensuring the blade is held in place by the press.
Load and unload blades from transportation tubs or carts as part of manufacturing processes
Pack finished goods to be shipped
Locate, read, and understand quality documentation
Complete paperwork for documentation purposes as needed
Understand and maintain relationships in the Manufacturing Department
Assist in keeping machines running, including working in other departments as directed
Follow departmental safety requirements

Sets up and operates CNC Turret Punch to trim, punch, shape, notch metal sheets.
Assembles, installs, and aligns dies in press according to specifications, using feelers, shims, templates, bolts, clamps, and wrenches.
Positions work piece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die.
Starts press and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction.
Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications, visually or using gauges or templates, and adjusts machine to correct errors.

Pull tooling and prepare setup for next jobs while another job is running on the machine.
Work in an efficient and timely manner, multitasking where necessary.

Keep work area, including top of machines and floor clean at all times.
Remove parts from punched blanks when required.
Notify Supervisor of any problems or malfunctions of machine.
Where possible, schedule machine to run while operator is on breaks.
Work with Material Handler to make sure material for each job is on schedule and in the proper location.
Identify areas for process improvement, cost and waste reduction.
