Under supervision, the Transfer Equipment Operator drives two or three-axle truck tractor/trailer combination with large capacity and other types of refuse transport vehicles; operates assigned equipment at refuse transfer stations; and may act as leadworker of assigned employees at refuse transfer facilities.
Examples of Knowledge and Abilities
Procedures and policies pertaining to refuses collection and disposal;
Heavy duty truck-tractor and trailer equipment operation; transfer facility procedures;
Safety rules and regulations pertaining to refuse collection, disposal, and transfer stations;
Proper methods of lifting and carrying heavy loads.
Operate truck-tractor and trailer combinations, wheeled loaders and other equipment commonly used at refuse transfer facilities;
Speak, read and write English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance;
Instruct assigned employees in proper work methods;
Keep required records current;
Submit simple written reports when required;
Maintain good relationships with co-workers and with the public;
Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods under all types of climatic conditions.
Either: 1. One year of full-time experience in a job class requiring a Class A license in
Sacramento County service.
Or: 2. Two years of full-time experience in the operation of a two or three axle vehicle with
GVWR (Gross Vehicle Weight Rating) of 30,000 lbs. or more.
Note: If the word "experience" is referenced in the minimum qualifications, it means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements.
Possession of a valid California Class A Instruction Permit issued by the Department of Motor Vehicles is needed for the examination process. A valid California driver's license, Class A will be required prior to appointment.
Notes: (1) Failure to maintain a valid California Driver's License, Class A constitutes cause for termination from the class in accordance with Civil Service Rule 11.4.
(2) Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to physical disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
The probationary period for this classification is six (6) months.

We seek a dedicated individual who will be responsible for the safe, efficient operation of all equipment associated with the management of inventory for Covanta's 58th Street Transfer Station.
Under the direction of the Lead Equipment Operator, this position directs the Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Construction & Demo (C&D) deliveries to either the Tipping Floor or the C&D Bunker, so that the material can be loaded out into transfer trailers or triaxle trucks. Operating, maintaining and servicing of heavy equipment, primarily front-end loaders and excavators. May also be trained to operate a skid steer, sweeper and forklift as necessary.
Maintain operating logs and inspection checklists for heavy equipment and other site equipment and load inspections. Cleaning/Housekeeping of work area and equipment along with other job duties as required. The Equipment Operator will be responsible for taking appropriate action on his/her own initiative to prevent equipment damage or personal injury. The operator is required to attend regularly scheduled safety and compliance training when required by management. Applicant must recognize that this position may be required to work overtime (paid at OT rate) and incidental or prolonged hours periodically, as business needs determine.

Manager, Process Transfer - Downstream
Our client is currently looking for a Downstream Process Transfer Manager to join the Biologics team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership and oversight of Downstream (Purification) Process Transfer from Process Development into Manufacturing, the implementation of new technologies and systems into GMP operations, and key aspects of the start-up of new manufacturing facilities. The ideal candidate will be an expert in technical problem-solving and developing interdepartmental relationships.
- Lead Process Transfer activities from Process Development to Manufacturing and incorporate application of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvement. This includes driving the entire effort of drafting and revising process transfer documents; facility/equipment fit modeling, raw material estimates, manufacturing batch records and sample plans.
- Serve as a key representative on project teams to identify, define and provide user requirements for process equipment associated with multiple facilities for the manufacture of biotechnology APIs.
