Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Recruitment Number 18-015AN, Kitchen Helper (DL) (Lifting/Carrying), Temporary, BC-02, Honolulu/Kapolei,* O'ahu.
Note: This recruitment will be used to fill temporary, full-time positions.
Hours of Work: These positions require applicants to work beyond regularly scheduled work hours on short notice to assist with the preparation of meals for a 24 hour/7 day secure detention facility; this may require work beyond 8 hours in a day and/or 40 hours in a work week including evenings, days off and holidays.
Testing Information: All applicants who meet the minimum qualification requirements will be required to pass an Attitudinal Test to be eligible for employment consideration.
Summary of Duties:These positions are responsible for transporting meals and/or food items between Home Maluhia in Honolulu and Hale Ho'omalu Juvenile Detention Facility in Kapolei on a daily basis.
- This requires reporting to Home Maluhia in Honolulu to obtain the State van, and making a minimum of two (2) round trips between Honolulu and Kapolei before returning the van to Home Maluhia at the end of the shift.
Also, these positions are responsible for assisting with the preparation, cooking, and serving of various foods and desserts and keeping the Kapolei kitchen clean during any assigned shift; and performing other duties as assigned.

Operating a dish machine to wash dishes, glasses, cups, trays, silverware and food service equipment
Setting up and cleaning the dish machine area; checking temperatures and soap dispensing levels
Preparing food for meals
Assisting in maintaining preparation and service areas in a sanitary condition
Emptying garbage and moving trash to dump site
Required skills and qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
Previous restaurant experience preferred
Obtain and hold any local or state required food handling/supervision/sanitation licenses and/or certifications
Flexible schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed
Must enjoy working with the senior population
