Knitter Mechanic Job Description Sample
Responsible for routine repairs, scheduled maintenance and cleaning of assigned knitting machines, sock sizing, occasional size and style changes and correcting any conditions or situations pertaining to the assigned knitting machines that adversely affect the quality or production of goods produced.
Knitter Operator –Weave
- Loads creel (equipment that holds yarn in place as it moves through machinery) and knitters with the proper yarn as specified on SRC (Standard Running Conditions).
- Prepares machinery for operation by leading yarn through knitter. Once complete insures that yarn passes through the correct location on the machinery.
- Measures material in accordance with specifications. Makes adjustments in order to insure specification is met.
- Records production/specification data and compiles production report.
- Cleans knitter and work area on a regular basis.
- Notifies mechanic or supervisor if there is any machine or product specification problems.
- Performs other duties at or above the same skill level at the discretion of the supervisor.

Perform operations on assigned machines.
Notify machine set-up person or mechanic if more complex tools or machine adjustments are required.
Areas of Responsibility:
• Repair simple defects in the material.
• Run knitting or other machinery in an efficient and safe manner.

§ Sets Glove Liner Knitting Machines to produce specific glove liners according to Work Instructions

Qualifications of Candidate

§ Ability to read complex materials including many details with complicated concepts; difficult vocabulary and technical terms
§ Ability to record production related information on documents as required
§ Ability to understand and follow ISO Work Instructions
§ Problem solving which requires several steps of logic and calculation
§ Reasoning ability with relation to complex graphs, detailed forms, diagrams and gauges, sometimes working with one or more at a time
§ Refer to Manufacturing Order to determine the number and type of glove liners needed
§ Set up and program knitting machines per Work Instruction
§ Inspect first glove off each machine per Inspection Criteria
§ Replace needles on knitting machines as required
§ Follow procedures for reporting non-conforming product per ISO Work Instruction
§ Complete Manufacturing Run Sheet and Quality Checklist
§ Observe safety and security procedures and use equipment and machines properly
§ Ability to work overtime on an as needed basis
§ Use of basic math, including multiplication, division, decimals and fractions. Simple use of formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules, diagrams, scanning devices and adjustable measuring instruments. Ability to check reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required using basic knowledge of the position.

Summary of Position with General
- Perform duties associated with the manufacturing process of knitted fabrics.
Essential job Functions: Listed below are the essential job functions for the primary responsibilities that a Knitter will perform, however, at any time manufacturing demands may require the Knitter to work on a different product line which would require him/her to perform any or all of the listed additional job functions.
Machine Operator – responsible for operating warp knitting machines, both single needle and double needle bar, up to 14 guide bars.
Fabric damage repair – responsible for replacing broken ends and repairing minor damages in the knitted fabric in gauges up to 64 gauge.
Records – Responsible for recording accurately every damage. Also responsible for recording all webs doffed from machines.
Responsible for maintaining specifications for each product, check and respond to changes as called for within written specification.
Beam Loading – responsible for hanging beams on knitting machines with the assistance of a knitter + Follow manufacturing procedures and Quality System requirements.
Effectively communicate any manufacturing and quality concerns to the supervisor.
Train other employees on new/revised procedures when required.
The ability to work overtime.

Mechanical aptitude with previous experience working with Textile equipment a plus.

Knitter And Yarn Operators
We are currently looking for people to work in textile facility in the Lumberton area. If you have previous textile experience we are interested in talking to you! We currently have 2nd and 3rd shift openings for experienced Knitter and will train if you have previous textile experience. Knitters start at 8.00/hr and will work in manufacturing that makes socks and hosiery.
Yarn Operator jobs are on 12hr rotating shifts and days. Previous textile experience is preferred but will train the right candidate. Yarn operators start at 9.00/hr. Immediate need.
THIS SKILL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR KNITTING THE SAME MACHINE AND DOFF TO EACH LOT NUMBER.
1 . Run 700 course control for the lot
2. Run 150 course separator before you start to knit the truck
3. Knit each package 50 courses each
4. When truck is finished, take sock off of knitting machine
5. Run 150 course separator and start on next truck
6. Separator is used to write machine number, doff number, lot number, date, knitter's initials and knitting machine associate knitted on.
After knitting truck of yarn, knitter stages trucks together in staging lanes of lab area.
8. After all information is written on separator, the knitter starts counting each panel, starting with number one through number ten until associate counts all packages on each truck.
9. Any yarn that has danbury is flexed and labeled by knitter

Responsible for the set-up and operation of assigned Knitter/Laminator machine(s) in the manufacture of quality products, following pre-established guidelines and Safety Rules. Report directly to the Department Lead & Supervisor.
Interact collaboratively with various employee levels throughout the organization. Following manufacturing operating specifications and procedures, sets up assigned machine(s) for operation. Ensures an adequate supply of raw materials is available and informs Department Lead or Supervisor of material needs.
Sets up material, checks heating mechanisms, glue tank levels, tension, and speed of machine operation to produce product meeting desired specifications. Operates machine, monitors operation, makes adjustments as needed, and stops machine when specified amount of product has been produced. Processes finished product by removing them from the mandrel and stacking them on pallets Maintains maximum production efficiency while maintaining optimum quality control by checking machine adjustments for scrim specifications and advising the Supervisor, or Department Lead if there are discrepancies.
Maintains accurate and legible logs and documentation. Performs general housekeeping tasks, i.e., sweep and organize work area, dispose of garbage, etc. Keep machines clean, creel station, weights, glue pans, glue rollers, etc.
Prepares machine and work area for next shift. Oversees co-workers’ workstations during breaks and/or absences as needed. Be dependable and have good attendance.
Show flexibility and teamwork under an Open Book Management Environment. Perform effectively and safely in a self-managed work environment. Possess the ability to operate machinery or equipment in accordance with correct operating procedures and company safety practices.
Possess basic reading, writing and mathematical abilities. Be proficient in the use of required hand tools, i.e., staple gun, utility knife, scissors, tape measure, wrenches, calculators, etc.
Possess the ability to understand and interpret written and verbal instructions with a high degree of accuracy, and be able to communicate effectively with others.
Possess the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Physical and environmental demands for the Knitter/Laminator Operator: Ability to balance oneself, crouch, reach with hands and arms, stand for prolonged periods of time, stoop, use hands to feel, finger and handle or feel objects, tools or controls.
Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to lift and/or move up to 55 lbs. Continually works near moving mechanical parts.
