We are seeking to hire a Senior Chemist with environmental and water chemistry experience to join the Kohler Company Chemical and Metallurgical Laboratory. This individual must have a working knowledge of regulatory procedures such as those issued through the EPA and OSHA. Experience with ICP-OES, ICP-MS, or GC-MS is required. Must have a solid background in organic and/or inorganic chemistry. Knowledge of quality systems a plus.

Supervisory experience is a plus.

This position requires previous experience as a Lab Assistant/phlebotomist in an acute care hospital (1 year preferred), High School graduate or equivalent and a current certification with the State of California as a Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT-1 or CPT-2). Cleans and maintains equipments
Disposes all chemical waste into the red hazardous carboy under the hood
Marks appropriate item on order supply list when needed
Documents all quality control, quality assurance and equipment maintenance activities. Notify supervisor of any change or reading that is out of range
Prepares a variety of chemical solutions, including various dilutions of reagent alcohol, 10% formalin and 10% bleach. All solutions are marked with date prepared and date of expiration. Expired chemicals are prepared for disposal and notification given to a supervisor or QA for schedule a pick for disposal
High School or Equivalent Ed/Exp
Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable
Knowledge of CPT codes is essential
Knowledge of laboratory procedures and medical terminology
Knowledge of Power Path System
Must be willing to work with hazardous chemicals, including formalin, alcohol and xylen
Must be able to communicate clearly and in a professional manner.
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when quick data entry, labeling specimens, and requisitions.
Ability to follow procedures and orders. Follow all safety policies and regulations
