This position is responsible for field product sampling, making line displacements, pumps displacements laboratory testing, control of customer commodity within the Gulf Region. At any time, this position requires the lab tech to drive for business (including but not limited to company vehicle, rental vehicle, personal vehicle while on business). Essential duties and responsibilities:
Perform testing of customer commodities in accordance with approved methods utilizing laboratory testing apparatus or equipment and ASTM standards.Perform preventive maintenance of all laboratory equipment including prescribed standardization and calibration checks and adjustments. Determine and monitor line displacements and product cuts to ensure that product integrity is maintained in accordance with regulatory guidelines and product specifications.Obtain and test tank, line and pipeline samples in accordance with standard operating procedures.Interact with field operations and control room personnel to report testing results to assure quality control of customer commodities.Prepare and issue accurate laboratory reports and logs as required by customers and management.Must be able to be confined space train and okay with making entry to tanks to perform wall wash testing.Assist Lab Manager in all administrative functions, ordering supplies and troubleshooting testing equipment.Willingness and ability to work 12-hour rotating shift and overtime as required, including Holidays, nights and weekends. Shift schedule could change due to work load or more staffing.Willingness and ability to be on call to cover emergencies that might arise. May require helping at other locations depending on work load needs.May be required to be an ERT member and maintaining ERT membership in good standing is required to hold this position.
Education: College degree with Lab experience or three years of terminal experience will be considered for this position.
Experience / specific knowledge:Associate degree or a minimum three (3) years of work experience in the petrochemical industry of hands-on field experience in a chemical or petroleum plant sampling storage tanks and trucks, and testing collected samples with automated lab equipment is required.Knowledge of terminal operations with hands-on experience following laboratory procedures, test methods and equipment calibration is a must.Good interpersonal skills with ability to communicate across all levels of the organization are essential.Ability to manage self and others is required to progress level of responsibility. The Department of Surgery, Histo & Immuno Laboratory is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician. The incumbent in this position receives and accepts samples from clinics and hospitals, separates them by type of tests required, and distributes to different laboratory sections that will perform each specific type of test.
Enters accessioning data into computer systems. Compares accessioning records to samples received to ensure accuracy, investigates missing samples, and performs quality assurance on all accessioned samples. Transports samples from clinic or hospital to laboratory in compliance with CLIA and ASHI standards.
Processes and dispatches specimens to reference laboratories or centers, ensuring that viability is maintained by proper preservation. Performs preparation of reagents and controls. Maintains rooms and equipment clean and functional.
Provides support to physicians and clinic staff. Organizes stock, maintains inventory, and places orders. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Process and ship pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic and all other samples according to instructions provided by study sponsor
Prepare study supplies/source documents necessary for obtaining lab samples prior to patient treatment
Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) for source documentation

Maintain accurate records of sample acquisition and shipping. All PK samples must have source documents available in patient charts that are accurate and complete. All shipping and processing records should be maintained in the patient's study folder
Ensure lab kits and other supplies for all active studies are adequate, all supplies are in date and lab kit inventory is maintained and kept current. Ensure all supplies are clearly labeled for study
Unpack all supplies delivered daily
Schedule appropriate courier for sample shipments. If too late for courier, be available to make arrangements to drop samples at FedEx, UPS, etc. if necessary
Ensure there is an adequate supply of dry ice available for shipments
Ability to respond to queries generated from study sponsor or contract lab regarding patient/sample data
Check and respond to emails daily
Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas
Interface with Tennessee Oncology and CMC laboratory personnel regarding labs for research patients
Interface with Research nurses to ensure that all research patients have correct lab kits prior to patients' visits
Open to working flexible hours including evenings and weekends
Assist other research personnel when asked
