Essential Job Functions (Including % of Time for Each)
This position is responsible for supervising the 2nd shift activities related to the execution of all chemical processing (clean, fine clean, plating), thermal processing (stress relief, braze), & welding (manual, robotic, E.B. weld) operations at the Canoga Park site.
This management position is responsible for the performance of hourly personnel supporting all current and future propulsion program needs. In addition, in-process quality inspection hourly personnel, and salaried technical support will take daily direction from the manager as far as priority of work assignments, to ensure timely work center execution. The manager will work closely with the 2nd shift manager of machining to ensure adequate management coverage across the Strategic Fabrication Center on 2nd shift.
This position is a direct report to the Director, Strategic Fabrication Center.
35% - Managing direct labor charging to ensure regulatory compliance, managing work assignments to maximize the utilization of resources, meet delivery requirements, and achieve efficiency targets, maintaining employee training, certifications, and critical skills; analyzing cost & quality drivers to identify cause(s) and implement corrective actions.
40% - Directing daily work assignments within the work centers to meet quality, cost, and schedule commitments, leading cross-functional team members to interpret hardware processing requirements, coordinating technical support to ensure hardware velocity and maintaining tooling and work center readiness (calibration, preventative maintenance plans).
15% - Identifying, reporting, and eliminating unsafe acts & unsafe conditions within the work centers, leading relentless root cause analysis investigations while striving for mistake-proof Level 1 corrective and preventive actions.
10% - Implementing actions to achieve safety, quality, cost, and performance improvement goals.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in a directly related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Chemical Technician - Chemical Plating - 2Nd Shift
A Plating Operator is actively involved in various processes within the plating department to include etching, stripping and oxidizing PCB panels. Maintain the work area in a safe manner while working with chemical processes and using high speed pressure equipment. Must meet or exceed output targets by understanding the product flow and handling procedures within the department. A Plating Operator will be exposed to hazardous waste while performing daily job duties. Operate wet process equipment for PCB panel processing through functions which include manual copper plating, solder plating, silver immersion, gold immersion, electroless copper, electrolytic gold, outer layer etching, organic coating, and hot air level processing.
Set and maintain chemical processing equipment within operational parameters
Cautiously load racks in plating tanks while ensuring proper temperature/current of baths
Read blueprints and traveler documents to produce and move products according to customer specifications and to verify that all previous operations were completed
Follow work flow dispatch as required while making allowances for schedule changes in response to Hot Jobs and customer requirements
Immediately report any and all quality issues with panels and chemical baths to supervisor and/or Process Engineers
Assist Process Engineers in running chemical process evaluations
Perform preventative maintenance on all chemical machines

Praxair, Inc. is seeking dynamic Chemical Engineers that would like to join our talented Global Engineering team throughout the United States. As part of the Global Engineering team, you may work in any of the following areas:
process engineering, plant selection & proposals, CO2, project execution, commissioning, and operation support of cryogenic processes such as air separation, hydrogen and helium separation, liquefaction, and similar. Duties may include heat exchanger design, control valve & flow element sizing, technical risk analysis, safety assessment & documentation, plant troubleshooting, engineering calculations, and investigations.
Our Engineers regularly collaborate with equipment suppliers, individual technical experts, engineering contractors, construction contractors, plant maintenance and plant operating personnel, and other project team members.
Prepares reports, graphs, planning layouts, cost estimates and summaries to communicate project progress or results
Learns and follows established work processes
Applies engineering fundamentals to daily tasks
Interfaces with internal and external customers/suppliers
Quickly learn and apply new concepts, skills and knowledge to assigned tasks
Investigate problems and requirements of projects, and implement appropriate solutions
Ensures important, relevant information is communicated regularly and consistently
Actively participates in project team meetings and decisions
Updates standards and guidelines
Sets goals and objectives to meet project deadlines
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
Master's Degree a plus
5 years of applicable experience
Exceptional technical skills and the ability to apply those skills in an industrial environment
Highly creative with initiative and drive
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Proven track record of personal accountability and success throughout their academic and professional career
Ability to travel up to 25% of the time (domestic and international)
