Our General Farm Laborers at Krehers have a very important role throughout our farms. These opportunities are hands-on, physical jobs at our two of our Western New York locations. Nature and Purpose
Level III labor position at El Nino Farms.

Field Operations operate tractors, pruner, forklift, backhoe, harvesters and implements to perform all required field tasks

Agricultural Assistant I
Maintenance of Farm Equipment: The Tropical Aquaculture laboratory has a number of farm vehicles, tractors, tractor implements and pumps.
This position will be responsible for the regular upkeep, maintenance and repair of these machines. Including, but not limited to, fluid changes, tire work, lubrication and cleaning. This position will also be responsible for stocking these supplies, and scheduling regular maintenance.
Grounds Maintenance: The Tropical Aquaculture Laboratory includes a 6.5 acre fish farm with 50 ponds, four greenhouses, a hatchery building, and a quarantine building.
This position will be responsible for maintaining these areas. This includes mowing, weed trimming, herbicide application, hedge and tree trimming, trash collection and floor cleaning.
Husbandry Duties: This position will be responsible for feeding fish in ponds, recirculating systems, and other tank systems. Husbandry duties include observing fish behavior, looking for disease/pathogen issues, and reporting this information to the farm manager/hatchery manager.
Pond Maintenance: This position will be responsible for maintaining 50 aquaculture ponds. This includes monitoring secchi depths and adjusting fertilizer additions as needed, spraying/applying herbicides and pesticides, maintenance of pond covers and pond banks, harvesting fish as needed (seining/trapping), feeding and data collection.
Construction and general repairs: Repairs and maintenance are a daily occurrence on a fish farm.
This position will be required to perform repairs on equipment as the need arises. This position will also be required to assist in the construction of recirculating systems, greenhouses, and water treatment systems.
Water Quality monitoring: This position will be responsible for sampling, testing, and recording water quality data 2X/week. Water parameters tested will include, TAN, nitrite, nitrate, alkalinity, pH, hardness, temperature, and dissolved oxygen.

Valid Florida driver's license
Experience in maintenance and minor repair of standard farm equipment (i.e., pumps, diesel tractor, mowers, power tools, etc.). At least one year of experience working on a tropical fish farm. Understanding of general aquaculture principles such as water quality management, nutrition, and aquatic pest management.
