Safely and efficiently operates, repairs, and maintains equipment associated with the powerhouse operations in a complex manufacturing facility.
Promotes safety and housekeeping throughout the facility.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Operates and maintains boilers, boiler controls and boiler drying and air filtration equipment, and moisture separators and their drain systems.
Lubricates compressed air systems.
Performs laboratory water tests and other water chemistry tests as necessary.
Safely and efficiently operates the powerhouse equipment. Such as heat transfer and combustion systems to meet OSHA and other safety requirements.
Operates equipment to meet EPA and other environmental regulations.
Enters test results and equipment operational data into spreadsheets and data collection systems and analyze the data for trends and report out as needed.
Operates Allen Bradley DCS and other computerized systems.
Makes minor equipment repairs, assists in larger repairs and performs preventative maintenance.
Inspects equipment, including that above the powerhouse roof as scheduled or as required to maintain reliability and safe operations.
Operates and maintains natural gas, fuel oil heating systems, pumps and pumping systems.
Operates and maintains water treatment systems including salt brine, water softeners, deaerating heater, flash tanks, how well filters, condensate return, chemical injection pumps and other related equipment.
Operates and maintains different water sources and water systems passing into or through the powerhouse.
Operates and maintains electric power breakers and switch gears, meter systems, ventilation systems, heat recovery systems, and heat exchange equipment.
Corrects PH in the water entering tubers.
Efficiently and safely operates steam and condensate return systems.
Operates piping systems and pressure vessels.
Reports and repairs piping leaks.
Opens and closes large valves, handles heavy weight in excess of 80 pounds, and operates boiler soot blowers.
Communicates operating information among other operators.
Maintains shift log book.
Advises supervision of equipment irregularities or concerns.
Need to have the knowledge and ability to contain, cleanup and dispose of spills including acid and chemical spills, as well as handling steam and air leaks.
High School diploma or GED required.
Minimum of 2 years of experience with operations of boilers and boiler controls.
Night shift hours 7PM to 7AM. Initial training can occur on day shift which will be determined during the first week of New Hire Orientation.
Understanding and proficient in safe work practices including LOTO, Fall Protection, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Ability to stand/walk on concrete floors.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold).
Ability to do physically demanding work in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to work at heights of 10 feet or greater.
Ability to work in confined spaces.
Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & SCOPE:
Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.
Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladder by one's self.
Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1-250 lbs., Class 1A-300 lbs.).
Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses at all times), respirator when required.
Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Overtime may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & REQUIREMENTS:
Includes climbing ladders and steep stairs, crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects in excess of 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required
Repetitive use of arms, hands and fingers.
Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
With proper supervision:
Prepare work area for installation of various equipment.
Keep work area clean.
Operates equipment only if trained and certified to operate.
Perform task in a professional manner.

Lead priority setting with the management team, placing emphasis on obtaining the input of operations personnel in the setting of priorities
Conducts field walk downs to identify and document job requirements
Identifies specific safety hazards that will be encountered in the performance of the proposed work and ensures that all aspects of the company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan
Estimates required hours on work order tasks and the labor skills required to achieve the task
Plans jobs with the appropriate level of detail for the given workforce
Procures equipment, parts and tools that are necessary to perform the work utilizing the company procurement process, gathers applicable engineering or technical documents, specifications and drawings for the work
