Perform general and emergency repairs and maintenance to all plant and equipment based on skill and experience level. Review daily log book, rectify or follow up on all items left unsolved from any previous shifts in relation to the scope area of responsibility. Ensure fire & safety rules and regulation and PPE applied in the work site.
Carry out regular inspections of plant and equipment as per the daily checklist and ensure that inspections required by Engineering are conducted and documented. Perform and assist with the Fire Protection Preventative Maintenance Program ensuring all items are inspected as per weekly schedule.
Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report any maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and properly store flammable materials. Ensure uniform and personal appearances are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets.

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience with mechanical and high, medium, and low voltage electrical concepts. 2+ years of supervision experience
Understanding of basic Power Plant Operations: Steam Generation, High Voltage Electrical Distribution, Compressed Air Systems, Refrigeration/Chillers Operations, HVAC, Air Handlers, RTU, Cooling Tower Fundamentals, and Waste Water Treatment Processes.
Ability to interpret blueprints, one line and engineering drawings.
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult.
High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others, motivate employees and elicit work output.

Powerhouse Operator - Level 1
This position reports directly to the Production Coordinator. All duties are performed in a work-safe manner; plant safety rules are followed and individual works as a team member. The primary responsibility is to assist in the operation of the powerhouse.
Understand and comply with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies to assure that environment, health and safety are the first priority of the business. Actively support key safety initiatives at the facility and assist the department as needed to improve EHS performance and results.
Monitors the temperatures and pressure on equipment.
Monitors water distribution cycle and water treatment.
Monitors the steam cycle and distribution system.
Responsible for reporting or correcting mechanical problems of unusual operating conditions.
Responsible for maintenance of instruments and charts in prescribed manner.
Responsible for training self in the duties of the Powerhouse Operating Technician to prepare for future advancement.

Utilities is a division of Facilities & Operations, made up of 135 dedicated employees responsible for providing utilities services for the university 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Services include campus-wide utilities purchasing, generation, and distribution, as well as metering and billing energy consumption for all university buildings. Distribution includes the operations and maintenance of 300 miles of underground utility systems from outdoor lighting and high voltage circuits to water mains to tunnel piping. Powerhouse Maintenance Repairperson II responsibilities:
Maintain boilers, turbines, air compressors, cooling towers, fans and related equipment through preventive maintenance such as fitting and adjusting bearings, packing or lubrication.
Inspect all Power Plant equipment for defects or wear, and determine whether repair, replacement or maintenance is necessary for proper operation.
Balance, set and align Power Plant equipment and check tightness, alignments and settings to prevent defects or wear using laser alignment and vibration monitoring tools.
Repair, maintain or replace electrical motors, pumps, heat exchangers, valves and all other components of turbines, boilers, cooling towers, fans and other associated Power Plant equipment.
Dismantle and repair boiler, turbine, air compressor or other equipment using cranes, cables, slings, rope-falls, riggings, scaffolding, booms, block and tackle and any other apparatus for moving heavy objects.
Enter data into a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
May coordinate work of Powerhouse Maintenance Repairperson Designees or other assigned assistants.
Work independently or in a team of other Maintenance Repairpersons and/or other Skilled Trades Repairpersons to trouble-shoot and repair equipment.
Perform other assigned job functions as designated by Supervisor.
Graduation from high school, GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
4-year mechanical apprenticeship or 2-year associate degree from an accredited mechanical trades school, plus minimum of four (4) years of associated mechanical work experience (i.e. Military Training, Technical Training, Mechanical Service Technician including 8,000 hours of documented mechanical experience from previous job or employers).
Satisfactory and reliable performance as an E3 Powerhouse Maintenance Repairperson Designee is an acceptable alternative to the experience described above.
Considerable experience in rotating equipment or power plant equipment maintenance.
Must be able to perform the full range of duties, with or without a reasonable accommodation, in the classification in an environment that has high levels of heat and noise.
Considerable mechanical aptitude.
Ability to interpret relevant blue prints, diagrams, sketches and specifications.

Position is a full-time hourly position.
We are looking for a high potential individual ready to take on challenges and responsibilities at our Galveston, TX grain processing facility. This position reports to the shift supervisor.
Potential assignments may include, but are not limited to:
