Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers' needs. We are currently looking for a Plant Maintenance Laborer in Clearfield, PA. Under the supervision of the Plant Managers, this person will provide a broad range of maintenance to the Emulsions Plant including the inspection, troubleshooting, and repairs to a variety of asphalt plant equipment to ensure productivity.
Perform repairs and maintenance on production equipment including but not limited to: oil pump piping system, valves, agitators, belts etc.
Perform routine preventative maintenance on production equipment and keep a log of said preventative maintenance program
Troubleshoot production operations to diagnose and repair issues: analyze data, check readings and gauges, observe equipment
Order/Seek order approval of equipment parts and supplies
Respond to emergency calls regarding equipment repairs as required
Maintain general cleanliness and general maintenance of the plant
Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the plant operations
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record
3-5 years of maintenance experience with electrical and welding skills preferred
Must adhere to all Midland safety regulations
Must be able to lift 65 pounds and climb stairs
Be proficient in basic math and computer skills
Must have excellent communication skills
Possess the ability to be a self-starter, take initiative and problem solve
Able to work and thrive in a fast paced, teamwork environment

The asphalt plant maintenance-ground laborer will be an essential crew member at the asphalt plant site. The laborer will work with other crew members to produce asphalt according to plans and specifications as well as perform tasks of other positions as instructed by foreman/superintendent. Laborer must follow all Strata Corporation company policies and procedures for safe working procedures. Must be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, overtime work, week end work, all work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, work around other heavy equipment and moving machinery, dust and periodic high levels of noise and able to stay out of town. Must be able to get to each job location by own transportation. Must be able to follow Traffic Control instructions and practice safety standards per Strata Safety Policy requirements. Must adhere to PPE (personal protective equipment) and maintain individual PPE in a functional condition as supplied by company.
The asphalt plant maintenance-grounds laborer will maintain the asphalt plant by assisting plant operator, unload AC & BF deliveries, greasing plant, checking all fluid levels, cleanup materials under conveyors and operate skid steer and various other duties.
Inspect, clean, maintain and repair equipment
Set up and tear down equipment as well as job site cleanup
Operate other various equipment (i.e. roller, broom, tamper, skid steer or tractor) as well as place on or drive on trailers
Shovel asphalt as part of daily job function
Make normal adjustments to plant operations
Review equipment operations manuals
Participate in safety meetings and tool-box meetings
Navigate to and from work sites
Typical work week is sunrise to sunset and 6 days a week in various locations across ND
Must be able to consistently lift up to 50 lbs.

Reports to: Mining Manager
Compensation: $13-15/hr DOE
Work Hours: Mon
7:00pm M-F & 7am

Responsible for safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment needed to perform multiple duties such as stripping overburden, maintenance of material stock piles as well as screening sand and/or topsoil. Must be able to conduct pre-shift equipment check and perform light service/maintenance work. May need to assist in machine maintenance and repair activities. Perform other miscellaneous mining activities as required in surface mine. Reports to Mining Manager of Silver Creek Materials.
Perform routine detailed pre-shift inspection of machine daily
Light Mechanical Work Required including but not limited to:
Greasing of all bearing and moving parts daily and some weekly
Alignment of belts on conveyors
Visually inspect machine daily for failed/failing bearings, rollers, screens, skirting rubber, head and tail pulleys, structural failures, and safety features.
Communicate with Shop & Equipment manager as concerns develop or its due for routine preventative maintenance
Read and comprehend machine's operations manual
Operate and supervise machine operation and communicate with loader operator and mining manager during production
Clear debris and excess materials from around and beneath machine and belts on daily basis.
Basic Mechanical understanding and common-sense practices will be very advantageous for this position
Agile and able to maneuver in tight crawl spaces if need be
Ability to work outdoors and perform duties in a safe manner
Ability to shovel large sand stones / clay clods from beneath screener belts

Wood Checking responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
The Wood Checking department controls both the truck scales and the rail scales for the Savannah Mill. Wood Checkers are responsible for weighing and accounting for most of the raw materials entering the mill and for many of the products leaving the mill.
Weigh and create tickets for all wood products trucks, recycled waste trucks, chemical trucks, and miscellaneous trucks – such as scrap steel or waste trucks bound for the landfill.
Inspect all wood trucks to make sure they conform to wood yard specifications.
Instruct new drivers in proper unloading procedures.
Confirm that all drivers have proper PPE.
Sample chip testing.
Applicants must be able to work in a team environment and must be available to work rotating shifts including holidays, weekends, and overtime.
Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
Must possess interpersonal skills to effectively interface with truck drivers.
Must be comfortable working with computers.
Industrial/ Manufacturing or other labor intensive work experience is preferred (minimum of 1 year).
