Evaluates, investigates, and performs applied research and development on emerging ATP, AO, and WFC electro-optical technologies to improve performance and reduce cost for HEL products and solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assure paperwork is complete both before, and after laser marking.
Maintain all paperwork associated with lasers which include, but is not limited to, SPC charts, laser production charts, and laser log files.

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for the operation of multiple CNC Machine types: turning or milling. Other job duties include operating machines according to drawing specifications, inspecting quality of tools before and after operation in addition to inspecting raw materials and finished parts.

The Laser Machine Operator positionsafely performs laser cutting and engraving for a variety of organizationalmanufacturing needs.

Machine Operator/ Electron Beam Welder
Perform required duties to set up, operate and maintain one or two sequential lines of equipment to deburr and ultrasonically clean a variety of sized of low carbon backing material and high speed steel wire to electron beam weld the two materials to form bi-metal coil stock.
Mount pancake or oscillating coils of backing material on appropriate play out stand using overhead electric hoist. Spark test to confirm type of material and feed ebd through deburring rolls, washer, welder, defect detector and on to take up reel. Mount high speed wire at washer and feed through welder.
Set up welder, install inner and outer locks, and replace seals at vacuum chamber. Adjust welding beam, regulate speed, and adjust voltage and amperage as required. Inspect welded material with microscope to assure proper location, shape and quality of bead.
Remove and dispose of burring shavings. Remove burring rolls, clean mounts and bearings, add lubrication, reverse or replace rollers in matching pairs. Lap rollers in automatic lapping machine, wash and inspect sharpened cutters under microscope.
Maintain ultrasonic cleaner adding caustic solution; maintain level of warm and cold water rinse. Dump and clean tanks, change seals, felt pads, fluid, air filters, etc. as required.
Monitor operation throughout. Observe welding through optical lens make necessary corrections and adjustments. Note signal light as take up coil approaches capacity, run to visual mark, cut band and start end on new reel. Wire completed coil in two places and transfer coil to annealing or temporary holding rack using tilting table and overhead hoist.
Observe and obey all safety rules, regulations and practices and employ all safety equipment and devices.
Perform other similar or related duties as assigned or directed.

REPORTS TO: DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
This position responsible for setting up a variety of tools into machines and making adjustments as needed. Install fixtures; make manual check of first piece; help operator as necessary.
Run machine as needed. May work in Production, Laser, Tool Room, Machining or Finishing department.
1.Logs onto system as 'set up' using appropriate operation number. Pulls program and/or setup sheet for job.
2.Reads blueprint or work order for specifications, such as hole locations, and part size, feed rates, cutting speeds, cutting tools, tool location and materials to be used.
3.Gathers tools, fluids, gages and packaging; verifies tagged raw material and records PO of material onto work order. Sets up workspace for safe and efficient operation following established set-up procedures.
4.Secures specified tool in work holding.
5.Lifts work piece and/or tooling manually, places it in fixture or on machine table, secures it with clamps or holds it in position.
6.Moves controls or belts to set cutting speed, feed rate, and depth of cut. Engages power or automatic feed or manually operates feed lever to feed tool to specified depth in work piece. Installs and adjusts cams, gears and stops to control stock at each station. Applies lubricant when specified.
7.Sets up machines for other workers including all safety devices and barrier guards; instructs workers and provides information as needed.
8.Starts machine, observes operation, and verifies conformance to specifications of sample work pieces; may use measuring instruments such as plug and ring gauges, calipers and micrometers.
9.Takes first piece to quality control department for verification and approval.
10. Runs machine through cycle, stopping machine and adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for such factors as timing, clearance between moving parts, and chip removal.
11. Verifies operator production conforms to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and fixed gauges.
12. Separate rejected product for sorting.
13. Verify, count and package completed production.

Electron Beam Furnace Operator
Operate and maintain TIMET's high productivity vacuum induction furnaces located in Vallejo, CA. Interpret and respond to the needs of the equipment.
40-60% of the operators' time will be spent operating the furnace; the balance will be devoted to the application of special skills.
Perform preoperative checks prior to and during pump down cycle.
Use pre-pump and start up checklist.
Set up and operate the furnace as directed for melting to include:
Material preparation and loading material.

Melting and casting.
