We have an exciting opportunity for a Laser Technician to join our Laser and Optical Engineering team located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.
The Lasers and Advanced Sensors (LAS) business unit is focused on the design, development, fabrication and integration of high energy laser systems, laser weapons systems and advanced sensors that provide targeting, tracking and identification functionality.
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the assembly, installation, operation, data acquisition and documentation of optic and/or laser systems. Provides support to engineers and scientists. Sets up and conducts routine and non-routine experiments, tests and assemblies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains systems; implements modifications and engineering changes in the assembly installation, and operation of systems.
Maintain developmental laser/optical laboratory and supports duties such as cleaning and organizing hardware.
Execute well-defined laser/optical test activities utilizing common laser test equipment.
Support the build and integration of opto-mechanical assemblies for developmental laser systems.
Operates and maintains supporting equipment necessary for the operation of large scale laser systems, including chillers, power supplies, flow systems and interlocks.
Operates equipment to perform tests, troubleshooting and repair of systems.
Performs experiment, test or assembly based on sketches, schematics, blueprints, drawings, and other engineering documentation.
Records and reports experimental or test data, observing data for anomalies, preparing summaries of data via written tabulations, charts, graphs, and reports as necessary.
May provide technical assistance to lower level technicians in work area.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
Must demonstrate full working knowledge of laser and optics systems and have a basic technical understanding of principles for their operation.
Must possess: (1) the ability to grasp new concepts quickly and work with general supervision; (2) the ability to read and interpret sketches, schematics, blueprints, drawings and other engineering documentation; (3) the ability to use basic laboratory equipment; (4) the ability to identify problems, and collect and analyze data; (5) good analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and assess situations; and (6) good knowledge of computer operations and applications pertinent to the field.
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required.

The Operations Area Supervisor of will provide leadership to create an environment that promotes teamwork, continuous improvement and a high level of service and customer satisfaction.
The Operations Area Supervisor drives the operational strategy and is the liaison with technicians, upper management, and facilities. The position is responsible for ensuring the effective delivery of service rental offerings in a specific geographic market that will generate growth, process improvement, and profit in the branch. Maintain the UHS standards of quality assurance and continued quality improvement of all UHS equipment, vehicles and accessories.
Monitor PM status and Coordinate equipment PM's and repair with management and designated vendors.
Prepare and conduct all annual performance appraisals and disciplinary warnings on all technicians in accordance to company policy.
Assist in the hiring and training of all new technicians.
Maximize net profit ensuring that all costs are within guidelines.
Maintain the protocol for on call schedules within the district.
Maintain the schedule and standards for the vehicle fleet service with regional management.
Ensure all Branch Purchase Orders are collected as required by the Purchase Order Collection Policy.
Perform cases as required.
Share on call status equally, with all other technicians in the branch.
Will travel when required.
Maintain the cleanliness of all UHS Equipment, Vehicles and offices.
