Wax Repairer - 2Nd Shift
Under the close supervision, is trained to identify common defects in wax patterns generated in the wax pattern injection process. Using prescribed procedures, performs a repairs wax patterns to acceptable quality to continue in the manufacturing process.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform all required pattern repair operations to eliminate flash, non-fills, air bubbles, core pulls, holes and cracks; smooth and scrape surfaces; blend contours and eliminate all surface defects or other irregularities as required.
Use hand tools and exercise care to smooth and blend joints and fixtures, avoid damage through mishandling or dropping.
Work involves a variety of hand operations requiring manual dexterity, concentration and care.
Detect and report defects indicating unusual operating conditions to lead person for investigation and correction.
Meet acceptable level of product throughput while maintaining quality standards.
Maintain acceptable level of attendance.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Follow safety regulations, practices and procedures.
Perform a variety of other tasks, flexing in an out of main job, to perform work of equal or less complexity as assigned by supervisor to maintain production requirements in the plant.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent eye to hand manual dexterity to perform intricate and exacting manual work on wax patterns.

Ability to lift objects up to 20 pounds on a regular basis.
Manually repair wax patterns following established methods and procedures. Requires the use of some judgment to make routine repair to surface sand features of a wide range of wax patterns and perform work effectively.
Some physical effort using small hand tools, handling individual patterns, manipulating as necessary. Moves/lifts materials weighing 5-25 lbs.
Continuous mental or visual attention in visually checking patterns for surface flaws, making repairs. Duties involve constant alertness and activity.
Reports to the wax lead person and the wax supervisor.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1 & 3 Only.
Category 1: All permanent/indefinite (T32 and T5) technicians employed by the agency WITH dual FL National Guard military membership; Category 3: All current military members of the Florida National Guard. First consideration will be given to Category 1.

You will perform maintenance on the electrical system of the turrets. Repair the stabilization control systems, circuit breakers, distribution boxes, cables, and wiring system, points and all other electrical components in the turret.
Replace Line Replaceable Units (LRUs). Test and repair electrical test sets that are used to test the electrical systems of the tank turret. Follow schematic diagrams and relays to determine if there is malfunction in the test equipment. Repair the hydraulic system, which provides the pressure to elevate and traverse the gun and rotate the turret.
Repair hydraulic valves which control the motion to ensure safety, these are controlled by electrical solenoids. Repair the hydraulic motors, the elevating systems, the recoil systems and all other hydraulic parts and components in the turret.
PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work involves bending, stooping, crouching, and kneeling.
Works in confined spaces and in awkward positions. Lifts and carries parts and assemblies weighing from 15 to 25 pounds. Some may weigh as much as 40 pounds. Weight handling equipment or the assistance of other workers is available for heavy lifts.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done in shop areas that are drafty and noisy.
Frequently stands on hard surfaces for long periods. Dirt, dust, and grease are usually present. There is exposure to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and sprains as well as to falls on slippery and inclined surfaces.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Heavy Mobile Equipment Repairer without more than normal supervision. To meet the screen out element, applicants should document experience or show the ability to do the following: troubleshoot, maintain and repair heavy mobile equipment to include performance of preventative maintenance checks and services; repair, replace, install, or make adjustments to mobile equipment components and parts; and conduct various operational tests to perform final inspection.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in the following areas:

Physical Effort Required: You may be required to work in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. Work frequently requires climbing on top of equipment or crawling under equipment to work on the various components. You will frequently have to bend, reach, stretch and crouch. Work is strenuous, often requiring the lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds. You will also push, pull, and turn heavy parts and equipment. You will move heavier items with assistance of other workers.
Working Conditions: Work inside and outside where you will be exposed to drafts, dirt, grease and vehicle fumes. You will be exposed to some inclement weather such as rain, snow, cold, and freezing temperatures; and may be required to work in mud and wet or icy areas when outdoors. Subject to burns, scrapes, cuts, bruises, shocks and strains.

Maintenance A Repairer
1.Repair, maintain, adjust and rebuild machinery and equipment.
2.Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and operating difficulties.
3.Determine need for and effect repairs and adjustments.
4.Work with manufacturer's representatives and technicians to effect repairs beyond the capability of the plant.
5.Train lower rated maintenance repairers.
6.Perform cutting, welding, fabrication, rigging, motor, drive and belt alignment.
7.Read and interpret blueprints, machine drawings and parts diagrams.
8.Apply understanding of basic hydraulics, pneumatics, motor generator principles, motor control theory, motor drive and coupling alignment.
9.Inform supervisor as to the status of assignments and record or enter repair information into databases or files.
10. Personal attendance record should remain in compliance with company guidelines.
11. Must be able to wear required PPE.
12. Able to work overtime as assigned.
