Summary of position:
Sets up and operates a minimum of two numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal workpieces to specifications. Still in training.
Reviews setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished workpiece.
Attaches fixture to machine bed and positions and secures workpiece in fixture according to setup instructions, using clamps, bolts, handtools, power tools, and measuring instruments, such as ruler and caliper.
Assembles cutting tools in toolholders and positions toolholders in machine spindles as specified, using handtools, or inserts cutting tools in specified machine magazines.
Loads control media, such as disk, tape, or punch card, machine control console or enters commands to retrieve preprogrammed machine instructions from data base.
Manipulates controls and enters commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
Observes and listens to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
Changes cutting tools and location of workpiece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
Measures workpiece for conformance to specification, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges.
Notifies supervisor of discrepancies.
(May) Adjusts machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
(May) Machines materials other than metal, such as composites, plastic, and rubber.
Communicates with co-workers and supervisor to receive instructions and coordinate activities.
Inspects and measures parts to maintain statistical process control charts.

Roll paper into loading position on automatic splicer, insert shaft of automatic splicer through roll core, secure holding chucks of automatic splicer to shaft ends, and thread paper through press components to prepare press for printing. Apply adhesive strip to backup roll and insert backup roll onto automatic splicing unit of press to prepare paper for automatic splicing. Remove roll of leftover paper from press after automatic splicing.
May operate mechanical truck to transport rolls of paper to press area. May assist with some of the make-ready tasks associated with the type of press operated such as hanging plates, examining plates, prepping and installing blankets, adjusting tension etc. May clean press and clean and install press components to maintain press in working order. May prepare and prepares and loads flat stock into a sheet fed press.
Requires general knowledge of offset presswork procedures and materials. Ability to read and follow job specifications to determine materials needed to run the job successfully.

CNC Machinist - LB Lathe Operator
The NC Tech A Operator will setup and operates CNC Lathes as well as inspect parts to blueprints using precise measuring tools.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Setup and run LB Lathes
Measure and inspect various features to close tolerances using calipers and micrometers
Read and interpret complex blueprints, planning sheets, sketches and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences
Selects and installs cutting tools, mount fixtures and work pieces, and load programs required
Calculate and set machine controls to position spindle in relationship to work piece
Select and set cutting tools as well as cutting depths, speeds and feeds required to produce parts per drawing requirement
Be proficient in the use of precision measuring tools, such as micrometers, calipers, indicators and height gauges
Ensure parts are per print, work order standards are met, daily clean up is maintained
Run jobs in order set by the scheduler or lead
Count, properly box and move work order, parts to the next operation. Also, move the work order location on the computer
Perform other duties as assigned
