Laundry Machine Operator
The Laundry Department is responsible for the processing of all hospital linen. This involves collecting, sorting and washing contaminated linen flowing safe handling protocol and drying, ironing or folding all hospital linen according to acceptable standards.
Linens are then delivered to nursing units and departments following a par level inventory system. Packs are fabricated for special surgical procedures and delivered to Central Service for sterilization. Records are maintained of quantities sent to all areas.
The sewing area repairs all useable linen and discards unusable items. They also make miscellaneous items that utilize available materials and require minimal labor. Equipment routinely used includes: washers, conditioners/dryers, flatwork ironer, spreader/feeder, presses, small piece folder and sewing machine.Under the direct supervision of the Director Food & Linen Services, collects soiled linen throughout the facility and sorts this linen by type.
Processes a variety of soiled linen in order to keep the various stations on the finish side operating efficiently. Weighs linen, fills wash machines, and selects correct wash formula. Unloads machines.
Cleans equipment and lint bags according to schedule. Primary responsibilities include operation of Dry Cleaner & Spotting Board to clean aircraft seat covers. * Performs laundry services including cleaning and distributing linens to clients, contributing to team efforts and professionally interacting with clients, customers, and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Properly sorts, washes and dries linens following the approved laundry procedures.
Folds, counts and stacks linens following approved laundry procedures.
Collects soiled linens along with redistributing clean linens.
Transports supplies to include clean and soiled linen to the appropriate storage and collection areas.
Provides quality customer service to customers by providing one on one attention to the detail.
Routinely inspects linens for wear and tear, identifying worn and torn linens and following Standard Operating Procedure for damaged linens.
Maintains the commercial and residential laundry rooms in a clean, orderly and sanitary condition.
