Manager, LNG Liquefaction & Regas Accounting
The Manager of LNG Liquefaction & Regasification Accounting is responsible for overseeing the ongoing, monthly, quarterly, and annual capture of, and accounting and reporting of, physical LNG commodity transactions, including, but not limited to, LNG sales and purchase agreements, LNG charter and transportation arrangements, LNG and NGL storage transactions, and the conversion of natural gas into LNG and ancillary transactions thereto. In addition, this role will depend heavily on frequent and direct communication with Commercial Operations, Production Operations, and Gas Supply, as well as Business Planning for commodity budgeting and forecasting.
Responsibilities include supervision of accounting team members in both Houston and London, review of accounting and invoicing and related accruals for LNG sales, NGL sales, inventorying of such products, and transportation of such products. Such transactions will originate from both the Houston and London offices. This candidate will ensure a proper accounting control environment, and audit support, and will assist in researching accounting treatment for specific commodity-based transactions, and related disclosures, and support for compliance requirements including SOX, and internal and external audit requests,.
General tasks will also include review of monthly accounting and reporting of commodity margin, including ensuring proper revenue and cost recognition and timely recording, as well as designing and applying effective control measures for the financial statement assertions related to commodity and derivative revenue and expense transactions. The candidate will be instrumental in the annual budget process and will own the preparation and review of the commodity-related budget versus actual analyses and reforecasting throughout the year.
The Manager of LNG Liquefaction & Regasification Accounting will be expected to coordinate with the Tax Team, Operations Accounting and Technical Accounting, to ensure transactions are communicated timely and downstream impacts are vetted with appropriate departments. This candidate will also facilitate and engage appropriate IT and business personnel for ongoing energy trading and risk management system maintenance and production support as it relates to back office matters. This candidate will embrace opportunities to increase communication and coordination between back-office and front- and mid-office within Houston and London, as well as the Houston-based Treasury function and Financial Reporting/SEC Reporting. Candidate will be expected to interact routinely with, and communicate effectively with, deal origination/structuring, shipping, trading, risk, legal, tax and senior management personnel within the Houston office to effectively manage accounting and financial reporting risk.
The Commodity Accounting team sits on the Trade Floor in order to facilitate real-time face-to-face communication with Front- and Mid-Office employees and candidate will be expected to adapt to the dynamic environment of a Trade Floor.
Proficient in accounting principles and standards; and
Knowledge of the energy industry, in particular commodity accounting, bulk shipping and inventory accounting.
Familiarity with the ENDUR-OpenLink ETRM platform a plus.
Familiarity with the Hyperion Financial Close (smart view) application a plus.
Oracle general ledger accounting knowledge and skillset a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Ensure successful interface between ENDUR ETRM and the Oracle G/L for monthly entries
Communicate effectively with key stakeholders to resolve volumetric and/or pricing differences.
Support the US-based quarter end and annual close financial reporting, insofar as it relates to commodity transactions, including, but not limited to, LNG sales and purchase agreements, LNG charter and transportation arrangements, LNG and NGL storage transactions, and the conversion of natural gas into LNG and ancillary transactions thereto. Prepare documentation in support of external and internal audits.
Perform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretation.
Serve as a financial reporting resource to others
Work closely with Commodity Accounting Controller to ensure proper contractual review for accounting implications, ETRM implementation, and SOX control environment compliance.
Coordinate with Houston Tax Team and local tax consultants to timely identify transactions that may warrant tax involvement beyond standard scope
Review of balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries and management reporting in accordance with US GAAP
Diligently review executory arrangements to ascertain appropriate accounting in accordance with US GAAP.
Reconcile, analyze, and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end close to ensure accuracy and validity of accounting transactions and company books and records
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)
Education and Certifications: A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance is required. CPA required. Master's in Accounting preferred.
Experience: Nine to twelve years of applicable experience is required; within the energy commodities industry. Public accounting experience working with clients in the energy commodity industry is acceptable. Experience with ENDUR-Openlink, or in a commodity trading floor environment is a plus.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal with the ability to work with all levels of management and employees

Organized and able to manage multiple activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy

The Director – LNG Marketing is responsible for maintaining and enhancing customer relationships; performing regional market analysis, identifying and pursuing potential marketing opportunities; originating LNG transactions to support hedging, risk management and business development strategies; negotiating contracts; and representing the company in various industry forums.
Market Structure and Analysis:

Planning and Strategy:
Provide commercial support during the negotiations of LNG supply/purchase agreements, gas supply/purchase agreements, ship charter-party agreements, joint venture agreements, and/or other commercial contracts necessary for the development of a liquefaction and/or regasification terminal project.
Supports internal resources in the development and execution of a strategy for building and optimizing the term portfolio, pursue and manage new business development opportunities, develop and implement value added services, recognize and properly value embedded options being offered in proposals, and realize the expected value of each deal that is implemented.
Prepare and present written detailed analyses, presentations and reports for the project team and to senior management.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Engineering or related field. Master's degree in Business, Finance or advanced Engineering degree is desired.
Minimum of 10 to 15 years' energy related business development, marketing and commercial skills and related experience with at least 5 years' experience in the LNG industry in commercial and marketing related roles. Emphasis on commercial marketing experience in the LNG and natural gas sector and major project development is highly desirable.
Senior professional with strong personal drive and credibility with both internal and external stakeholders.
Proven project development and delivery of business objectives, ability to analyze and understand complex situations, and ability to develop, recommend and implement practicable solutions in accordance with world-class industry standards.
