- Share by Mail Job Overview Die Makers are highly skilled employees responsible for producing dies, and specialized parts and devices used on manufacturing machines in an automotive manufacturing plant. The work requires practical skill and knowledge as a Die Maker to analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to make and repair dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges and hand tools. The work may require interpreting specifications, blueprints, manufacturers’ manuals, sketches or similar documents. The candidate must have the ability to plan the sequence of operation and materials required according to knowledge of computer technology, such as computer aided design, CAD, or computer aided manufacturing, CAM, to design and create instructions for the manufacture tools. The candidate will be required to test and inspect the dies that are created to ensure that they are true to the original design and function properly. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and the ability to problem solve. Qualifications

Basic knowledge of mathematics, algebra and physics
Eight (8) years of documented experience as a Die Maker or Tool & Die Maker or a documented and verified U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Die Maker or Tool & Die Maker
Experience as a Die Maker or Tool & Die Maker in a manufacturing environment

Measure, mark and scribe metal or plastic stock to lay out machining, using instruments such as protractors, micrometers, scribes and rulers
Cut, shape and trim blanks or blocks to specified lengths or shapes, using power saws, power shears, rulers and hand tools
Design jigs, fixtures and templates for use as work aids in the fabrication of parts or products
Select materials to be used from a range of metals and alloys, based on properties such as hardness and heat tolerances
Set up and operate drill presses to drill and tap holes in parts for assembly

Tool & Die Maker - 1St Shift
Eaton’s Power Delivery Division is seeking a Tool & Die Maker - 1st Shift. This role is at Badger Drive Facility, Waukesha, WI. PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of this position is to plan, layout, and perform all bench and machine operations to construct, alter, and repair tools, dies, fixtures, molds, gauges, etc. requiring a high degree of skill and in-depth knowledge of tooling practices and applications. TYPICAL DUTIES:
Manufactures, assembles, and inspects simple die sets to complex progressive die sets by using the necessary machines, tooling and gauges required to mainteain specifications.
Manufactures, assembles, and instepcts jigs, fixtures, inspection gauges, prototype machinery or machine parts using the necessary machiens, tooling, and gauges required to maintain specifications.
Performs preventive maintenance inspections on die sets, jigs, fixtures or gauges and makes recommendations when necessary. Inspections include disassembling, assembling, cleaning, grinding, or machining necessary components.
Performs necessary maintenance repairs to die sets, jigs, fixtures, or machine parts. Determines causes of failure or mailfunction and makes recommendations.
Works from work orders, prints, skethes, sample parts, or verbal instructions. Use of technical manuals, machinery handbook, or general literature to determine machine speeds and feeds, proper clearnaces, types of materials to use and heat treat requirements is a must.
Inspections of work is normally done with use of precision instruments such as: micrometers, Vernier calipers, height gauges, sincee bars, jo-blocks, surface plate, etc.
Operates a lift truck and overhead crane for the purpose of moving dies, tooling ormaterial required in the tool room.
Occasionally estimates jobs and prepares necessary parts list. Makes recommendations in the design of new tooling and modifications of present tooling to increase the reliability and longevity of tooling.
Assists other maintenance personnel in the repair and troubleshooting of equipment as requested.
Works with outside suppliers to manufacture replacement equipment parts, and any machining jobs too large to complete internally in Badger Drive’s tool room
- The incumbent will maintain a safe and clean work area, will adhere to all facility safety guidelines and will encourage communication and participation of personnel to further identify and reduce/eliminate potential hazards. They will run the machines in a safe manner, with all safeguards applied. Constant care is required to prevent injury to self and others. Qualifications

What You Will Be Doing - Analyze blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Plan sequence of operations, visualizing shape of mold in reverse of product.
Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining.
Identifie machining specifications to set up and operate machines such as numerical EDM, CNC mill, lathe, manual mills, surface grinders, band saws, etc. Select and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and EDMs.
Calculate and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

Accountabilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: •Visually inspect all products to ensure all quality specifications are met and adjust as needed •Use a variety of measuring instruments to inspect and release all products •Troubleshoot all issues and determine best course of action •Make manual adjustments to various grinding and honing wheels •Replace components as needed •Independently perform repairs and scheduled maintenance as needed •Work with Process Mechanics to repair or perform scheduled maintenance as needed •Maintain equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition •Run multiple machines during personal and lunch breaks. •Demonstrate stability of performance under pressure
Specific Accountabilities Physical requirements: •Be able to move (push, pull, or otherwise manipulate) materials up to 90lb with assistance and 50lb independently
Required Skills and Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
