Log Yard Operator
Weyerhaeuser is seeking individuals who are committed to safety, have a positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a desire to work in a manufacturing facility. Weyerhaeuser's Montana Wood Products is currently looking to fill Log Yard Operator positions at our Kalispell Lumber facility.

Be responsible for receiving, sorting, storing, preserving (value of), and feeding at the Kalispell complex
Work closely with mill management, Plant Accountants, Log Yard Equipment Operators, Scalers, Loggers and Foresters to effectively manage log yard inventory
Oversee log scaling and log inventory functions
Manage all storm water runoff at the Kalispell complex and hauls off site construction debris and wood waste generated
Manage scale house tasks to include weighing chip trucks, log trucks, gravel trucks, plywood/lumber trucks and firewood trucks using computerized scale
Operate log yard equipment, such as such as log sorter (610 prentice, 324 Cat, 322 Cat), D7 dozer (966 Cat, 988 Cat), dump truck, road grader, and water truck
Tasks performed involve working with equipment and material that require familiarity with formal safety procedures and the following of these procedures in order to maintain the safety of the work environment
Opportunity will include rotating shifts.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required
Minimum of five (5) years of operating Heavy Equipment strongly preferred
Minimum of one year of experience operating a forklift preferred
Comprehensive knowledge of wood species
A sense of urgency in terms of maximizing production, and minimizing downtime is necessary in this type of manufacturing environment
Self-starter with the ability to work without direct supervision
Practice the proper safety procedures and make sure logging contractors also abide by those requirements
Candidates must have the ability to interpret and apply verbal and/or written instructions, and have good hand eye coordination
Willingness to work any shift, work overtime and weekends and rotate between jobs; as well as perform any job as specified by supervisor

As a Logs Clerk, you will be responsible for:
Monitor electronic logging devices for federal compliance
Monitor daily hours of service turned in by drivers
Orientation presentation for Hours of Service
Train new drivers on electronic devices that record Hours of Service
Monitor for internal compliance of annual reviews and reviews of each drivers MVR
Monitor for internal compliance of Drivers physicals and Driver license renewals
Safety and compliance Position that will require the auditing of Hours of Service violations in addition to monitoring the Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports. This employee will also run reports that will help supervisors better determine which drivers are at higher risk to be scrutinized during Safety audits. These drivers will be monitored daily for compliance and reported to Mitchel Jeffers.
