Characteristics of Work
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for performing carpentry, building and repair in support of District construction and maintenance.
Examples of Work

Related, similar, or other logical duties are performed as assigned. The Department may require employees to perform functions beyond those contained in job descriptions. The Department may modify job descriptions based on Department needs. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is an "at will" employer.
Build forms and finish concrete for bridges, culverts, etc.
Build and repair bridges.
Remove snow and ice during inclement weather.
Load, unload and stack bags of salt, sand, cement, chemicals, etc.
Minimum Requirements
Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, and to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records. Knowledge of welding and cutting tools.
Familiarity with carpentry tools. Demonstrated skill and knowledge of carpentry techniques. General construction background preferred.
Valid driver's license. Applicants for this position must obtain a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with a tanker ("N") endorsement within 180 calendar days of hire or promotion from a non-CDL position.
Successful applicants must meet the physical and mental requirements for a CDL. Failure to obtain the required CDL within the 180-day period will result in immediate termination.
A pre-employment drug/alcohol test will be conducted after a contingent offer of employment or transfer has been made, and prior to the candidate performing any work for the Department in that capacity. Internal applicants who are already in a safety-sensitive position will not be subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; however, offers to internal applicants who are not in a safety-sensitive position will be contingent upon pre-employment drug/alcohol testing. Additional Minimum Requirements - Heavy Bridge Maintenance

ALC MOS 91F30 Small Arms/Artillery Repairer Instructor will provide training services to the ALU, LNCOA for the training mission. Instructor will train Non-commissioned Officers to supervise and perform field maintenance on mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and optical components, of Small Arms, mortars, towed artillery, the Bradley Fighting Vehicle, the M1A2 series Abrams tank, and the M109A6 Self Propelled Howitzer. Instruct Common leader training (CLT) and GCSS-Army Material Management module. Instructor shall provide performance-oriented training using the TRADOC approved Programs of Instruction (POI). Instructor will perform classroom training and/or hands-on performance oriented training, simulation/virtual training and/or field exercise training. Four years of prior military service as a Warrant Officer (WO) or Senior NCO
