The Lumber Estimator works within a team of Estimators in the Component Design department to provide detailed quantity take-offs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist and in the development of detailed estimates at different levels of completion. This includes lumber and hardware takeoffs, determining labor, material and equipment costs for multiple disciplines.
Calculate complete takeoff of scope of work
Create detailed reports and material summaries
Develop a holistic strategy for each project from concept to construction. Determine areas for self-perform trades, Katerra material selection and areas for value engineering. Support the self-perform groups, materials team and manufacturing team with project information, quantities, submittal information and delivery sequencing.
Assist in the management of a centralized material estimating database and a formal process to support material estimating to ensure historical data is utilized.
Provide improvement recommendations to material estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated materials and actual costs.
Identify cost trends to assist Katerra in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.
Bachelor's degree or above in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or Business or equivalent experience in the commercial construction industry, preferably multi-family and senior living.
Knowledge and experience with Continuous Improvement and Construction methods.
Passion for quality design and green building methodologies.
Strong skills with Microsoft Suite, Plan Swift Estimating Software, On-screen Take-off, Revit, Assemble.
