This position is located in the UNICOR Furniture Factory at a federal correctional facility. UNICOR is a government cooperation which employs inmates in manufacturing and producing a variety of goods and services for sale to other government agencies.
A primary purpose of this position is to train and supervise inmates in the manufacturing of plastic laminate and wood furniture and other products of various styles and designs. The duties of the position include manufacture and assembly of case good word furniture, including desks, bookcases, wardrobe lockers, lamps, credenzas, desk trays and tables.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Machine Shop Supervisor - Night Shift

We are currently seeking an experienced Supervisor for the Machine Shop to oversee the second shift, M-TH 4:00pm to 2:30am. In this role, you will be responsible for the supervision of the day to day operation and safety of the KS Goleta Machine Shop and the associated fabrication processes. Coordinates and facilitates the activities to ensure the effective implementation and execution of requisite processes in support of production demand requirements.
Duties include but not limited to the following:
Works on a variety of machining processes and equipment.
Operates CNC equipment such as 3, 4, and 5 axis lathes and milling machines with little or no supervision.
Performs machining processes in accordance with policies and procedures.
Fabricates and measures parts, making required adjustments on tools to ensure conformance to requirements based on print and/or quality plan
Reads and interprets planning data and blueprints or drawings necessary to complete assignments.
Changes tools when needed
Performs SAP / MES entry per router instructions
Performs de-burring processes and protocols if needed
Responsible for keeping work area and machine equipment in clean and organized condition
Performs preventive maintenance checks per instruction if required
Follow all job related work instructions and policies
May be required to work overtime and/or weekends to meet the company's operational needs
May operate machines and execute machining processes in support of schedule requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

At BMC, the Truss Assembler is an entry level team member responsible for assembling building material components. This dedicated team member performs one or more repetitive jobs on an assembly line under direct supervision.
Assembles building material components such as wall panels, roof and floor trusses. Processes include insertion or positioning of materials, clamping, splicing, fitting parts and use of both hand and power tools.

Mechanical Assembler II - 2Nd Shift
Position Purpose Mechanical Assembler reports to the manufacturing supervisor and is responsible for assembling, installing, aligning, adjusting and fitting sub-assemblies and parts or auxiliary equipment using appropriate tools and equipment, in an industrial setting. The position works under limited supervision, moderate decision-making and problem solving, in an industrial setting. This position also provides some guidance to other members.
Assemble and/or perform preset calibration/final testing. Performs moderately complex assembly and test. Products may include but are not limited to small, medium and large products, subassemblies and/or complete units.
Assemble, install, align, adjust and fit subassemblies and parts or auxiliary equipment using appropriate tools and equipment as per work instructions.

Identify and understand basic plumbing, electrical and mechanical components that are commonly used in assembly.
Review shop orders and similar materials to determine requirements. Retrieve parts, materials, and supplies from staging location.
Must be able to operate hand and power tools.
Must be able to participate in LEAN and continuous improvement activities.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Perform or assist with any operations, as required or directed to maintain work flow or respond to production requirements.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
Air and power driven tools including but not limited to: Hand Drills, Drill press, Impact gun, Grinders, Die Grinders, cut off wheels, DA Sanders, Dynafiles, wrenches, air guns, heat guns, and Stud Welders; Fork Truck training and operation required.
- SAFETY: Follow E-ONE General Health & Safety Rules, ensure safe operating conditions within area of responsibility, and notify coworkers and supervisors of hazardous acts and conditions. Proper use of PPE; use only defect-free equipment. Promote safety in department. Use proper lifting techniques and overhead hoist when needed. Maintain clean and safe working environment in line with 5-S Philosophy. Participate in hazardous communication training and safety meetings.
- QUALITY: Responsible for the quality of work. This requires defect-free work and understanding of the requirements of the company's quality system as it pertains to job duties and responsibilities. Must be able to check work to ensure conformance to process control instructions, specifications, and quality standards. Identify and segregate non-conforming product. Identify the need for and assist in initiating and implementing corrective and preventive actions when appropriate.

As an Assembler on our team, you will fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts to be assembled into complete units. This role will apply knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, layout techniques, operating conventional and special purpose machines and hand tools.
Review process sheets and drawings to identify material required to perform the job.
Marks cutting lines on aluminum or steel sections to be assembled.
Verifies dimensions with measuring instruments such as calipers and tape measure.
Verifies conformance of processes or work piece to drawings or process sheets.
Follow the set flow and process established within their department and perform the work with zero defects.
Checks materials prior to processing to assure they meet specifications.
Wear assigned safety protective equipment for each job function.
For each job, perform hazard assessments and maintain a high standard of safe work practices and quality control.
Have the commitment and behavior to follow all company and OSHA safety rules and guidelines, all while working in a responsible manner. This includes avoiding injuries and damage to property, loss of unused materials and clean-up of work area debris.
Completes all necessary company training in a timely manner.
Experience with hand and power tools such as drills, rivet guns, impact gun, grinders and welding (such as MIG, TIG, etc.).
Experience with machines comprised of band saws, automated saws, lathes, milling, cut-off saw, drill press, copy router, roll-former, punch press and wire straightener.
Ability to read and interpret tape measure.
Ability to review drawings and specifications to develop process steps required in fabricating the final product.
Fork truck license and overhead crane operation.
Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position up to 75% of the time (standing).
Needs to move about the shop to access tools and equipment.
Constantly operates machinery such as: Cordless drill; Hammer; Screwdrivers; and other like tools.
May operate forklifts, lift-trucks and scissor-lifts.
May ascend and descend on a ladder and other lift equipment to install and assemble equipment. Must be able to climb to heights of 12 feet on a ladder. This physical demand requires using both hands and feet.
Constantly positions self to install and assemble equipment. Some of these positions may include: stooping; kneeling; crouching; squatting; bending; and/or crawling.
Frequently communicates by phone, email, text or in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
Must be able to detect, inspect and reasonably assess when installing and assembling equipment.
Frequently will move equipment and /or tools up to 75 pounds.
Will work in a job-site where safety equipment must be worn.
Ability to adapt to different shop temperatures and environments.

Assembly: Maintain client objectives by ensuring all authorized client items are assembled to specifications.
