Located in Carol Stream, IL, the Machine Builder will build and provide service and technical support for standard machine systems both in-house and in the field.
Build, test, and troubleshoot all standard industrial machines per blueprints and direction. May cross-train and build some less complex automation machines.
Assist in rough conceptualization to build machines.
Design and manufacture safety guarding for standard machines as required.
Pack, crate, and ship machines.
Manually machine parts to close tolerances as required for building machines or to repair machine system.
Tear down and refurbish existing systems. Clean, replace parts, adjust, etc.
Know tooling & fixtures and how they affect print quality.
Travel occasionally to customer sites as required to install, re-test, or repair machines.
Perform basic electrical wiring or troubleshooting to fix problems at customer sites. Work in a safe and efficient manner.
Write basic reports of trips and/or meetings with customers.
Work in a safe and efficient manner.
Other duties as assigned.
TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:
Hand tools, drills, grinders, lathe, horizontal mill, digital multi-meter, ohm meter, and material handling equipment including forklift.
Regularly required to lift and carry items up to 25 lbs. May occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. Regularly required to communicate by telephone and in person. Frequently required to stand, sit, crawl under machines for long periods of time on various types of flooring; regularly required to operate equipment, walk and sit. May also be required to exert force to loosen and/or tighten or remove objects from equipment using various parts of the body for leverage. Will work with cleaning solvents, thinners and inks, and may be exposed to occasional loud noise. Must be able to travel occasionally on short notice.
Continuously or frequently required to calculate, communicate verbally, compare, detect, diagnose, inspect, interpret, measure, observe, prioritize, read, speak, and use good judgment.
Technical vocational school certificate or associates degree or equivalent experience in mechanical/pneumatic assembly or repair. Electrical and/or electronic training or experience is preferred.
1-2 years industrial machine assembly including strong mechanical, pneumatic testing and debugging. Service experience a plus. Electrical a plus, but not required. Experience with most varieties of hand and power tools.
1-2 years experience as machinist and/or Toolmaker. Work with close tolerances (.001").
Valid driver's license required.
Effective communication skills required to follow direction, work in a team, and discuss machines with customers and coworkers.
Basic personal computer skills required.

Lays out all devices contained on documentation and attaches them to the control panel.

Education: AAS in Engineering/Engineering Technology, or equivalency of a High School Diploma, plus apprenticeship and 6 years experience.
Minimum of two years experience and ability to work from control schematics.
Able to understand ladder diagrams. Can use DMM to trouble shoot wiring connections. Working knowledge of standard industrial wiring practices.

SUMMARY: Assembles, repairs, maintains, designs and fabricates parts for assembly machinery by performing the following duties.
2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:00pm); shift differential, 401k matching up to 5% available. Position eligible for quarterly bonus .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
Duplicates and/or modifies a part when no drawings or sketches are available.
Computes dimensions, plans layout and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
Measures, marks and scribes metal stock for machining.
Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, Pantograph and grinders, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
Lifts machine parts and positions and secures parts on surface plate or worktable.
Smooths flat and contoured surfaces with power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms.
Verifies dimensions, alignments and clearances. Assists with PM's by repairing, rebuilding and fabricating parts and assemblies, which will require overtime for all Machine Builders on a regular basis.
Designs and constructs intricate fixtures and gauges where accurate relationship, fitting and interchangeability of parts require close tolerances to fit. Also designs tools, selects allowances and makes tool tryouts.
Fits and assembles parts involving irregular contours, large numbers of holes and/or numerous sections.
Makes suggestions for production and safety improvements and helps with implementation as necessary.
Assists in the construction, repair and general maintenance of assembly machinery by repairing or rebuilding defective parts and assemblies and helps with installation as necessary.
Understands LOTO procedures.
Designs and installs special structural parts in assembly machinery.
Safely sets up and operates mills, lathes, power saws, drills, grinders, sanders, welders and other miscellaneous metalworking equipment.
Designs and fabricates machine improvements and helps implement and install machine modifications within the existing ISO procedures.
Maintains record of time spent on different projects.
Performs all other relevant tasks as assigned by Project Lead.

The Tank Builder assembles, analyzes for defects, and repairs boilers, tanks, vats and pressure vessels, boiler auxiliaries and ancillaries according to blueprints specifications, using power tools and hand tools.
Locates and marks reference points for columns or plates on foundation, sing master straight edge, squares, transit and measuring tape and applying knowledge of geometry
