Job DescriptionThe Machine Operator I, under the direction of the Kitchen Team Lead and Area Manager, sets up and operates all production machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Additionally, with the support of the Automation Manager and Maintenance Department, helps develop and train standard operating procedures. This position will be located in our Arlington, TX fulfillment center.
Sets up, calibrates, loads and verify that the assigned machinery has been properly put back together from sanitation crew along with scales and their proper function
Performs changeovers with a sense of urgency
Properly breaks-down and thoroughly cleans all equipment, as well as resetting for the next shift
Follow and complete the daily production schedule, including changes that may occur during the course of the day
Complete all paperwork including, but not limited to, PCP as well as system productivity and downtime record
Follow product quality checks: specification check, packing check, produce quality check, seal integrity check and code date check
Self-directed and able to complete all tasks with minimal supervision
Helps develop and train new machine operators following Blue Apron standard operating procedures
When required, provide assistance installing and commissioning new equipment
Perform duties effectively in a highly diverse teamwork environment
Prior working experience operating industrial packaging machinery; food manufacturing experience
Able to work in an industrial, cold-room environment with moderate/intermittent noise
Have knowledge of mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
Ability to uphold safety, food safety, and production quality and freshness standards
Basic computer skills

Operates one or more production machines which may include but is not limited to the Box machine, Affeldt machine, Rheon machine (Donuts), Hinds Bock, or Laminator by performing the following duties (see attached task lists for specific machine operation). Helpers for the Mixers, Rheon, Oven and Canol are also classified as Machine Operator l.
Set up, Start up, disassemble, reassemble and operate machine during production
Adjusts machine as needed to improve performance
Continuously inspects machine for safety concerns and appropriately addresses the concern
Pays attention to details – knows when something is wrong and takes corrective action and notifies lead as appropriate
Ensures that product specifications are being achieved (i.e., weight, height, length, color)
Notifies Lead if there is a problem (e.g., with the line, any safety concerns, mechanical issues, etc.)
Safely cleans machine and work area during shift, at changeovers and at the end of shift
Participates in and/or leads Lean (5S, Autonomous Maintenance) activities and may include Sanitation tasks.

Set up and operate label applicator, as well as perform Labeler Preventative Maintenance
Set up an operate bander for designated machine group, as well as change rolls on the bander
Set up and operate Case Sealing (Tape) machine, including the ability to make adjustments and troubleshoot issues to the machine, such as changing the tape, maintaining case sealing tape centered, and cases squared up
Move the punch, release liner, bubble piercer, and cooling bars safely and efficiently
Understand and perform machine-specific Preventative Maintenance

Reporting to the Assistant Production Manager, the packaging operator fills daily coffee orders by operating automated and manual packaging equipment, monitoring the overall quality of all bulk containers, and fulfilling packaging duties in a safe and efficient manner. Ability and experience in making mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic adjustments to "fine-tune" processes based on observations of equipment operation.
Simple process understanding.
Simple tool usage.
Must be able to complete work requests and forms (handwritten and/or computer-based) to accurately document production/downtime.
Must be able to follow verbal instructions.
Strong math skills
Ability to lift 50 pounds on a repetitive basis
Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend and stoop throughout shift.
Ability to work in extreme temperatures and work in noisy conditions
Prior Forklift experience is a plus.
