Die setters set, operate and repair tools, dies and distinct holding and operating devices that enable machine to create injection molded pars. They should have strong technical abilities working with metal and plastic materials and adhere to a high levels of safety precautions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Analyze produced parts to identify defects or errors in tooling, machine or material during a last piece process.
Maintain parts on dies and repair or replace if needed, polish and preparation of all in house tools and components, remove dies from machines.
Produce sample products and program machines and equipment with proper configuration to meet product specifications.
Select, install and adjust dies using a variety of tools and equipment. Overhead crane usage is required.
Use control devices or manually operate machines for production, may need to detail materials using hand tools.
Electrical wiring ability of hot runners and controllers.
Assigned task by direct supervisor or above, this will include plant maintenance, aiding in plant 5-S, painting.
Brainstorm and implement new ideas to improve set-up time and overall process.
Keep work area clean and orderly.
Follow the requirements of the Quality Policy, ISO/TS system, and procedures.
Follow all safety policies but not limited to PPE, Lockout/Tagout, machinery guards, safe lifting, etc.
Report any safety hazards to the Shift Superintendent or Management.
Report all accidents and/or near-misses whether they are major or minor in nature. ng, and other none die related task.
High school diploma, trade school and/or equivalent.

Hand eye coordination and manual dexterity.

Pull gauges and all materials to be included in CNC Job Boxes. Ensures the proper tooling quantities are included to compensate for tooling damaged during the machining processes
Pulls the required Electronic Analysis Sheets(EAS) to machine parts

Reviews blueprints and job orders to plan production sequence

Knowledge of tool design, shop mathematics, metal properties, machinery, and assembly procedures. Mold setters keep production flow by repairing existing molding machinery for operation. Must be able to use a variety of hand and power fixtures and demonstrate the mechanics of molding machines, operation, and relation to mold installation.
Professionals ( > 2 years of work experience)
Understands and follows plant safety and procedures
Avoids or prevents hazardous conditions from developing
Wears appropriate protective equipment as required, dresses and conducts self in a safe manner
Keeps work area clean and orderly and maintains Lean 5S
Participates in plant safety objectives
Demonstrate the mechanics of molding machines, their operation, and how this relates to mold installation.
Read and interpret tool setup sheets, drawings, and SOP's
Use a variety of hand tools and fixtures
Assists in installation and removal of tooling
Cleans and examines tooling for defects
Repairs fixtures as necessary
Report and document tooling changes
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes
Responsible for following all company policies/regulations
Performs all quality checks, interprets and reacts to data trends on quality documentation
Follows up on quality product/process improvement suggestions
Takes proactive ownership and responsibility for product quality at point of manufacture and process improvement
Fully quality trained and understands concepts, documentation and control procedures
Performs duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED
A minimum of 5 years experience setting up molds in an injection molding environment
Experience in lieu of education will be considered
Additional duties may be assigned to meet business needs
Knowledge and understanding of the various types of production equipment
Must have good interpersonal skills, able to work with minimal supervision to meet department goals
Good mechanical/electrical abilities
Good communication skills & Interpersonal skills
Ability to read blueprints
Injection molding skills
Skills and/or Training:
Ability to read and understand various written instructions in English
Must be able to:
oBend, twist & turn in a safe manner
oLift up to 40 Pounds
oStand for long periods
Good hand dexterity
Ability to speak and write in clear English communications
Strong math skills
