The Defense and Intelligence Group at Leidos currently has an opening for a Radio Frequency (RF) Engineer to work in Huntsville, AL. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the Small Unmanned Aircraft System Program mission.
In this mission we will analyze performance requirements, develop test procedures and test hardware in the lab. The engineer also will collaborate with and support the engineering team with efforts to test, verify and validate performance of integrated small unmanned systems through hardware-in-the-loop and flight testing. The individual will work closely with other engineers to identify key RF performance parameters for small unmanned systems and supporting ground control stations, document performance parameters in supporting requirements documents and support development of flight test procedures. The qualified applicant must have minimum 2 years' professional experience with RF design, analysis, and test experience to include analysis of RF waveform performance and propagation, (dynamic range, harmonics, bandwidths, etc.) and RF performance requirements (link analysis, propagation effects, basic antenna design/trades, LNAs, filters, limiters, etc.). Radio Frequency Engineer - Public Safety Communications
- Conduct design work for telecommunications systems, specifically for land mobile radio, APCO Project 25 radio systems, microwave, and radio over IP (RoIP) for Public and Life Safety

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking an experienced radio operator who will function as the football Game Day Frequency Coordinator for all home Penn State football games for the 2018 season. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in VHF/UHF RF communications along with an understanding of FCC Rules and Regulations.
The roles and responsibilities of the Frequency Coordinator are primarily to make certain that all entities operating wireless devices throughout the stadium on game day have a clear and useful frequency for the duration of the event. The Frequency Coordinator must be engaged in pre-event coordination to identify and resolve frequency conflicts prior to and, if necessary, during events. Ideal candidate must possess strong administrative skills.
Position must be able to amass and coordinate any and all frequencies utilized on game day, much of which is brought in on game day by visiting teams, broadcasters, Law Enforcement, EMS, event security staff, and other non-University entities. Much of this coordination will need to take place prior to the season as well as in the weeks prior to games. Strong written and verbal communications skills are also necessary.
Successful candidate is expected to establish a frequency screening process whereby any and all radio equipment used on game day is vetted and frequency information is gathered in electronic format. This individual will be required to be on site at Beaver Stadium Fridays prior to each home football game from approximately 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., and also prior to the game on Saturdays, staying through the end of the game. Analyzes individual building components to determine the type of construction and occupancy groups and computes floor area and allowable height; refers the more complex electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, mechanical or structural plans to individuals specializing in these areas.
Coordinates the review of plans with other public agencies whose approval is necessary; itemizes required corrections and modifications and explains them to permit applicants.
Authorizes the issue of building permits for plans that meet code and ordinance requirements; calculates fees.
Advises and assists architects, contractors, builders, and the general public with interpretation and application of pertinent building regulations, state laws, and local ordinances.
Submits reports to the Building Official regarding workload and process statistics, new products or situations, and code interpretation issues.
Provides assistance to the public at the counter, answering questions related to plans and permitting requirements.
- Three years of building engineering inspection and plan checking experience; or,
- one year of experience performing duties equivalent to the class of Building Engineering Inspector III with Santa Barbara County; or,
- a combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to one of the employment standards listed above and that provides the required knowledge and abilities.
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License may be required.
Knowledge of: building construction methods and materials; basic engineering, practices and techniques; Uniform Building Code; electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes and applicable State laws; arithmetic, trigonometry, and plane geometry.
Ability to: analyze and interpret building plans and specifications; interpret and enforce laws and regulations; establish and maintain effective working relationships with builders, applicants, and others; organize, prepare, and present records and reports effectively in written or oral form; communicate technical information clearly and understandably to a non-technical audience; maintain objectivity; represent the department with diplomacy and tact; make and support decisions, even when they are unpopular.
Desirable Qualification: Possession of the ICC certification in plans examinator. Supplemental Information
Review Applications and Supplemental Questionnaire: Application and supplemental questionnaire will be used to determine those applicants who meet the employment standards.
Supplemental Questionnaire Ranking. Responses to the required supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated and scored. Candidates' final score and rank on the eligibility list will be determined by their responses to the supplemental questionnaire.
Computerized Competency Assessment. Candidates will be notified by email with instructions on obtaining and taking the competency assessment. All candidates are required to complete assessment by the required deadline date.
Candidates must receive a percentage score of at least 70 on the supplemental questionnaire to be placed on an employment list. An adjustment may be made to raw scores based on factors listed in Civil Service Rule VI.
Those candidates who are successful in the selection process will have their names placed on the employment list for a minimum of three months. At the time the employment list is established, all candidates will receive written notice of their score on the exam(s), rank on the employment list, and exact duration of the employment list. Human Resources will notify you by mail if your name is removed.
Conditional Job Offer: Once a conditional offer of employment has been made, candidate will be required to successfully complete a background check, which includes a conviction history check, and satisfactory reference checks.
Appointee will be subject to a post-offer medical evaluation or examination. The appointee must satisfactorily complete a probationary period.
