JOB DESCRIPTION (DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES):
Attending Apprenticeship training and courses required
Operate CNC machinery and drill press, power saw, grinding machine, radial drill, and mill.
Works off blueprints and job specs to operate machines.
Performs in process checks of equipment so that adjustments can be made before a nonconformance occurs or a large number of parts are machined out of specifications.
Checks measuring devices periodically with the shop standards to ensure they are accurate and to avoid damage.
Cleans and inspects equipment to avoid breakdowns.
Keeps work area clean and neat and complies with all safety standards.
Measure machined parts to verify parts are to print.
Observe and listen to machines during the machining process to verify correct speeds and feeds and to listen to machine for potential machine malfunctions.
Lay out, measure and mark materials.
Fit and assemble parts as per instructions or to print using hand tools and machinery.
High school diploma/GED, certificate in Machine Tool Technology or equivalent work experience
Must be able to operate a variety of machines (CNC machinery, lathes, milling machines, drill presses, surface grinders, key seaters and layout tools) to produce precision machine parts to print specifications.
Must also be able to fabricate, modify or repair machine parts.
Also has the skills to read blue prints, use micrometers (inside & outside), calipers, depth gages, layout tools and instruments, and be able to do shop mathematics including trigonometry.

CNC Machinist Apprentice
JD Machine Corporation is looking for talented, hard-working people willing to attend the OWATC machining program while working part-time gaining valuable hands-on experience with the possibility full-time employment at the end of the program.
Must be at least 17 years of age and willing to register with the US Department of Labor as an apprentice
Must be available to work 20 hours a week and to attend the OWATC 20 hours per week.
Must maintain 80% progress in the OWATC program.

Position Summary and Responsibilities
On the job training in all areas of the machine shop value stream.
Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinder and other manual equipment.
Deburr and wash components via use of manual cutting/grinding tools, pneumatic buffers, drill presses, tumblers, sandblasters, ovens, ultrasonic cleaners, etc.
Operate horizontal and vertical band saws per shop order requirements.
Accurately maintain raw bar stock inventory from P.O. receipt to shop order issuance.
Operate CNC equipment (Lathes, mills, multi-spindle, multi-axis) under the direct supervision of senior machinists.
Inspect and record critical dimensions of components per requirements.
Follow all policies and procedures as applicable for each component produced.
Place orders for tooling, replenish tooling, and cycle count tooling using the CAP system on an as needed basis.
Communicate daily with planner and supervisor to assure scheduled deliveries.
Play an active role in regards to "Lean" processes by working and communicating with Planning, Quality, Engineering and Peers to identify and implement ways to improve process flow.
Responsible for keeping the work area and equipment safe, clean, and organized.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED.
Must be actively enrolled in or have completed a vocational program related to manufacturing / machining.
At least 1 years' experience in an Engineer-to-Order JIT atmosphere preferred.
At least 1 years' machining experience preferred.

The program is a 3-year curriculum consisting of rotational manufacturing assignments and classroom training. Program students are required to attend classes 3-4 nights a week throughout the 3-year program.
All tuition for classes will be paid for by GE. Past program graduates have gone on to significant roles in technical & leadership assignments. Program graduates will earn a certificate of completion and college credits that can be applied towards an Associate Degree in Applied Science.

1.Support Maintenance and Engineering personnel.

Die Cast Rebuild Technician-Machinist Apprentice
