Duties Mail Carrier Driver play an important part in achieving the goals of DES by understanding the needs of the customers, being proactive in customer service, and performing other essential functions as outline further below.
Some of what you'll enjoy doing: * Performing mail services in a production environment with critical timelines by sorting incoming and campus letters, flats, parcels, and accountable mail;
Maintain knowledge of USPS mail systems to prevent mis-routed mail;
Maintain checks and balances throughout the process assuring smooth work flow and on time delivery of all output;
On a daily basis utilize specialized mail machines to process state mail by operating a computerized machine, X-ray machine, and metering machine;
Processing FedEx boxes and parcels on manifest system, utilizing mail carts, hand carts, and other various loading dock equipment;
Distributing mis-directed mail to the proper customer mail stops utilizing electronic methods;
Understands the needs of our customers and is pro-active in customer service. Qualifications

Responsible for brokering freight, third party logistics, dispatching and assigning transportation vendors based on client demands and service requirements.
Ability to perform in an environment with rapidly changing priorities and competing deadlines
Intimate knowledge of logistics including carrier alternatives, pricing and potential problems.
Cold calling carriers and negotiating rates
Develop strong network of carriers (REFRIGERATED / DRY / COLD STORAGE LTL)
Negotiate rates with drivers for best return on gross profit per load
Proficient use of transportation software such (MCCLEOD, TMW, FREIGHTWARE, AS400, MERCURY GATE
Assign loads to trucks, following company policy on planning requirements and HOS
