Reliability & Maintainability Engineer
The Reliability & Maintainability Engineer provides Bell commercial and military programs with professional Reliability, Maintainability and Testability engineering support through professional techniques and processes.
Position Responsibilities:
Collect, analyze and score Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) data. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Engineering Investigations (EI) and Corrective Action Plans (CAP) for failed aircraft components including participation in Reliability Review scoring boards.
Perform Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA) and testability assessments including Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT), Highly Accelerated Stress Screening (HASS), fault detection and fault isolation.
Assess manufacturing parametrics and maintenance removal times.
Formulate reliability analyses and predictions (including development of failure rate estimates based on handbook techniques and historical data) using Windchill Quality Solutions software.
Perform budget estimating.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics - or related science discipline - is required.
Position Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of R&M experience in a defense related industry.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
Demonstrated Communication Skills needed to brief top-level management, customers and/or large groups on an occasional-to-frequent basis required.
Candidates must be eligible to obtain Secret Security Clearance
Must maintain compliance with ITAR & EAR requirements.
Preferred:
Prior military experience maintaining rotary or tiltrotor aircraft.
Existing Secret, Top Secret clearance.
Applicable experience formulating reliability analyses and predictions (including development of failure rate estimates based on handbook techniques and historical data) preferably using PTC Windchill Quality Solutions software.
Knowledge of procedures involved with collecting, analyzing, and scoring of Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) data.

Reliability & Maintainability Engineer
SUMMARY
Provide engineering support to all equipment in terms of reliability, control maintenance costs, reduce machines downtime, implement and improve maintenance KPI (MTBF /MTTR).
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Originates and develops analysis methods for determining reliability of components, equipment, and processes.
Prepares diagrams, charts, drawings, calculations, and reports for defining reliability problems and makes recommendations for improvements.
Conducts an analysis of reliability problems and investigates to determine the reliability required for the particular situation considering the cost limitations for equipment up/down time, repair/replacement costs, weight, size, and availability of materials/equipment.
Determines the cost advantages of alternatives for developing action plans to comply with internal/external customer demands for reliable processes/equipment to avoid failures.
Leads projects to improve equipment/process reliability as specified by Maintenance and Operations.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
Works under general direction from project engineers, section head, or under general administrative instruction for performing detailed reliability studies and detailed calculations of component/system reliabilities.
Considers impact of costs on recommended action plans for avoiding/correcting problems during the design phase or remedial action for correcting reliability problems on installed equipment; and performs root cause failure analysis to help prevent failures.
Plans and performs engineering research, design development or manufacturing/process engineering assignments including responsibility for major subsections of complex projects using general engineering practices influenced by the general theme of reliability principles.
Estimates engineering personnel needs, coordinates and supervises the use of other engineers and technicians to accomplish the objective of cost effective reliability improvements for projects.
Assignments are broad in nature and require appreciable originality and ingenuity for completing the assignments which have considerable latitude for un-reviewed action or decisions.
Follows company safety and health guidelines and other company policies.
Must have a hands-on approach - will be required to be out on the shop floor on a daily basis.
Performs other work as assigned.

Senior Reliability & Maintainability Engineer
Proprietary programs are seeking Reliability, Maintainability & Systems Health (RM&SH) qualified engineering candidates. Candidates must be well-versed in the technologies and analyses required to support aircraft programs at all phases of the life cycle.

Under general supervision with limited review, this position supports GA-ASI USAF Sustainment Project Engineering activities related to the planning and execution of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) improvement efforts for the USAF MQ-9 Reaper Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).

- Reliability, Maintainability, and Supportability (RM&S) engineer for Advanced Development Programs. The candidate will be familiar with RM&S analysis methods, including reliability predictions and allocations, mission reliability analysis, failure modes and effects analysis, maintainability predictions (mean time to repair, crew size), maintenance task analysis, prognostics, diagnostics, health management, scheduled maintenance, timeline analysis, human factors, logistics footprint, support equipment requirements, manpower requirements, and sortie generation rate.

Avionics and Tactical Networks (ATN) is an operating unit within the Communications business unit of the Airborne C4ISR Systems division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems. ATN is located in the Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego, California.
We deliver complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio and electronic warfare product applications to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the "equipment providers." Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Perform Reliability, Maintainability and Safety Analyses on Military electronics, with emphasis on:
Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis
Derating/Stress Analysis
Reliability Prediction using PRISM or Telcordia Methodologies
Root Cause Determination and Corrective Action
Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action Administration
Reliability Growth and Qualification Testing
Environmental Stress Screening development and test plan generation
Safety Hazard Analyses and corresponding mitigation
Thermal Analyses using FLOTHERM
Act as Reliability Engineering lead on Military programs, ensuring compliance with customer reliability requirements effectively interfacing with customer reliability specialists, presenting reliability requirements and reliability analysis results at customer design reviews and internal management reviews.
Support new business proposals, reviewing customer reliability requirements, providing labor cost and schedule estimates to accomplish required reliability tasks.
Develop Reliability Program Plans to document and control reliability tasks and activities required for specific Military programs.
Interface internally with Electrical Design Engineers, Component Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Quality Engineers, and Functional and Program Management.
Support internal training program, mentoring junior engineers/interns in Reliability Engineering, including performance of reliability analyses.
Basic Qualifications:
A minimum of 9 years related experience with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (BSME/EE) or related field of study BSEE/ME in a related technical field
Experience performing FMECA, Derating, and Reliability Prediction analyses
Candidate must be a direct communicator with excellent time management skills
Basic MS Office proficiency in Excel and Word
Working knowledge of MIL and Industry specs governing Reliability. Maintainability and Safety Engineering / Analyses
The position requires an active or current Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a higher clearance level.

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Staff Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) Project Engineer to join the USAF Sustainment Engineering team.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision with limited review, this position supports GA-ASI USAF Sustainment Project Engineering activities related to the planning and execution of Reliability and Maintainability (R&M) improvement efforts for the USAF MQ-9 Reaper Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS).
Candidate will perform analysis and assessment of field data and review technical issues reported from the fleet to execute engineering studies, projects, and other efforts; develop and deliver engineering recommendations for issue mitigation, including technical and financial merits.
The candidate will follow through with technical management of projects including, but not limited, to the following tasks: coordination with management; establish project budgets and detailed schedule; track performance to the plan and provide status reporting to management; allocation and tracking of system requirements; lead a technical team and coordinate efforts of various Subject Matter Experts; plan and execute SIL, HILL, ground, and flight testing; review project-specific documentation such as system design specifications, interface control documents, software specifications, performance specifications, test plans and test reports; prepare and chair design reviews/technical meetings.
Represent the organization by providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects.
Interface with subcontractors and customer.
May be required to travel to CONUS locations.
Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Job Qualifications
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Must have a thorough understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
Must possess the ability to develop and communicate new concepts; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
Must have strong verbal communication, technical writing, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills in addition to the ability to work independently and as part of a team; able to perform complex tasks in one or more engineering areas; capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact and, lead a team of experienced professional employees.
Able to work extended hours, as required.
A Professional Engineering License and original work published in professional engineering journals are desirable.
