Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor
The Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor directs and coordinates facilities maintenance and repair operations for University buildings campus-wide. S/he supervises maintenance mechanic personnel on assigned shift responsible for maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems. The incumbent also provides trouble shooting, repair, and maintenance services on elevator, fire suppression and alarm systems, hydronic heating, steam generating equipment and electronics systems. This position ensures that high priority demand work orders are addressed during the assigned shift. This position reports directly to the Associate Director of Facilities Operations. The incumbent supervises, plans and schedules the work of all maintenance mechanics trades personnel on assigned shift. Duties include but are not limited to:

Worked in two of the fields (Electrical, Plumbing or HVAC) for 10 years
Possesses experience supervising a team of mechanics in any of the specialized trades including maintenance mechanics for a period of 5 years
Experience leading a team of mechanics with varying levels of experience on a variety of jobs associated with facility maintenance
Must have a computer literacy with specific experience in Microsoft Office Applications, e-mail use, database management, spreadsheets, text messaging and word processing
Familiar with reading building blue prints and equipment plans
Must have strong written and oral communication skills
Must have strong customer service orientation

The incumbent serves as Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor with responsibilities which include construction, repair, maintenance and inspection of all inside and outside housing units and buildings. Provides supervision to several civilian journeyman level supervisors who in turn supervise an inmate workforce involved in a variety of dissimilar trade practices. For institutions with more than one General Foreman position, i.e., located inside and/or outside the perimeter fence, the incumbent will be required to rotate through the different locations on a regular basis.
Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

Assists the other team members with the maintenance sections of their training program. Process Equipment Ensures all assigned equipment is continually maintained at shop with highest standards, resulting in proper functionality and minimum failures.
Performs Quality checks and modifications strictly as per procedure and according to the defined schedule.
Efficiently troubleshoots and repairs assigned equipment.
Participates in Root Cause Analysis of failures.
Records all maintenance and failure events immediately and accurately.
Actively uses InTouch Support both for technical solutions and for knowledge sharing.
Makes recommendations to supervisors on requirements for spare parts, test equipment and tools necessary for efficient maintenance.

What Production Set-up & Maint contributes to Cardinal Health
Sets up, aligns, monitors, and/or calibrates production equipment. Assists and may perform maintenance on machines and cleans up minor chemical spills in assigned area as well as glassware, ovens, and other equipment.
Must observe all safety precautions and regulations at all times in all areas where duties are performed. Will be responsible for reporting all safety hazards and potential unsafe working conditions. Must utilize the SCORE program and actively participate in safety meetings.
Must understand and comply with all current plant policies and procedures.
Must maintain work area and equipment in a clean and safe condition.
Will layout and perform machining operations of replacement parts using shop equipment such as lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, drill presses.
Will work from verbal and/or written instructions, work orders, manuals, tables, and schematic drawings or sketches.
Must troubleshoot, diagnose, disassemble, and repair damaged mechanisms or replace defective parts and reassemble. Test after reassembling making necessary adjustments for proper operation before turning machine over to production.
Will position and align, and level machinery and equipment being installed or relocated to required accuracy and check to ensure effective operation. Also require rigging knowledge for installation and relocation of equipment modules to include rotary dies and knife units.
Will construct, rebuild, or modify equipment under the direction of co-workers, supervisors, or engineering department and assemble new equipment and instruct operators on the operation of equipment where applicable.
Will select or specify shafts, sprockets, pulleys, and belts.
Must record and process parts removed from the stockroom.
Must perform preventative maintenance on a scheduled basis.
Will perform miscellaneous duties to include minor piping, and electrical work using proper tools and equipment.
Must maintain necessary records to include maintenance logs, time sheets, downtime logs, etc.
Must have a basic understanding of welding using oxy-acetylene, arc, and MIG welding.
Must be able to read and use precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators.
Must have a basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic-systems with the ability to test, repair, and replace solenoid valves and cylinders.

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Manager, the Lead Technician provides direction to a group of technicians (mechanics) to ensure that all repairs and maintenance of equipment are performed in compliance with the Company's safety standards and applicable federal and state regulations. The Lead Technician is responsible for all chassis (diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks) and refuse bodywork, including, but not limited to, hydraulic, electrical, heating and air conditioning system maintenance and repair. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Maintains expert knowledge of, and advanced working proficiency in, the following vehicle components and systems, with the ability to perform complex repair maintenance functions, both on-site and on the road:
Chassis component repair and maintenance;
Refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems;
Air and hydraulic braking systems;
Engine repair and maintenance;
Suspension, drivetrain and steering systems; and
Heating and air conditioning systems.
Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication.
Provides direction to technicians assigned to his or her work group to ensure that all repair and maintenance work is performed in a safe, efficient and timely manner. May plan and schedule repair work to minimize lost productivity.
Inspects repairs done by a third party vendor to ensure all work has been properly completed in accordance with the Company's safety procedures and federal and state regulations; follows up when necessary.
Performs repair diagnostics on more complex matters.
Identifies the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools.
Completes applicable Company training programs.
Handles Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities, as needed.
Acts as a mentor to technicians.

At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks.
Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck, or automotive systems: Suspensions & Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions.
At least 3 years of experience in a role requiring compliance with OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, and all OSHA fire protection regulations is a plus but not required.
At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience is a plus but not required.
ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8) is a plus but not required.
Class B or higher Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required.
Valid Driver's License (required).

Maintenance Mechanic II (Full Time)
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for making a variety of general repairs to existing zoo infrastructure and systems, as well as other maintenance duties such as painting and building basic structures for staff, guests and animals.
POSITION DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for general maintenance on zoo buildings, animal exhibits and guest areas, including basic repairs, painting and building basic structures.
Assists other maintenance staff with completion of generated work orders related to a variety of mechanical trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, etc.
Assists maintenance manager in implementing and executing preventive maintenance programs.
Assists with snow removal during winter months.
- This position may at times be requested to perform other duties or special projects as assigned, which are in the best interest of the Kansas City Zoo.
EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 5 years' general maintenance or carpentry experience preferred.
Knowledge of and experience using various power tools and maintenance equipment.
OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have valid driver's license.
Must be able to lift 75 pounds.
Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
Must pass a background and drug screening.
