DEFINITION:
Cleans, sterilizes, sets up, monitors, adjusts, and tests dialysis machines and accessory equipment used in the treatment of patients with acute renal failure or end-stage renal disease.Essential Job Functions
Collects water and dialysis solution samples and sends them to the laboratory for analysis on a monthly basis, and depending on the results the equipment is sanitized if standards are not met.
Monitors the operation of a central dialysate supply system by observing meters and gauges and makes adjustments to maintain the proper degree of conductivity and temperature of the dialysate solution being delivered to individual dialyzers.
Sets up dialyzers at patients' bedside by connecting pumps to electrical power sources, installing tubing between dialyzers and blood pumps, and connecting dialyzer tubing to a dialysate delivery system.
Cleans and sterilizes dialysis equipment after each use by performing such procedures as disassembling systems, discarding and replacing membranes or dialyzers, sterilizing by flushing with various chemical solutions and treated water, and priming with fresh saline or vinegar.
Maintains dialyzer system components and accessory devices such as blood pumps and hand manometers by testing, calibrating, adjusting, replacing parts and, in the case of inoperative units, tagging for outside repair.
Prepares sterilizing solutions by drawing off hydrochloric acid from bulk stock and adding these to base solutions in accordance with established formulas.
Monitors the functioning of dialysis equipment during treatments and takes action to assure its continuous effective operation such as repositioning blood, dialysate and power lines, lubricating moving parts, repairing air and blood leaks by tightening connections or replacing faulty tubing sections, and when necessary, replacing malfunctioning components with reserve units.
Receives and stores supplies and accessory parts including drums of dialysate concentrate used in the maintenance of dialysis equipment and transfers them to the working area as necessary.
Confers with renal unit nurses concerning the selection of dialyzers and the proper functioning of dialyzers before and during treatments.
Requirements
SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
Two year's experience assisting in the assembling, testing, operating and servicing equipment used in hemodialysis procedures.
PHYSICAL CLASS III - Moderate:
Includes standing or walking most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighting over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.

Job Summary
We are seeking a Primate Technician III / Lab Technician for our site located in Frederick, Maryland.
The Primate Technician III l Lab Technician will be a senior member of the husbandry team responsible for providing care for NHPs on behalf of, or for sale to, customers, as the Primate Tech III / Lab Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring animal behavior and physical attributes to ensure animal health and welfare. You will be a member of the Processing Team responsible for preparing animals for delivery to customers, with a focus on ensuring the efficient operation of the Lab in completing tests and associated documentation to ensure timely completion of all customer requests and requirements for animal shipment.
The following are responsibilities include: Perform tasks and be familiar with the regulations associated with the receipt of animals into quarantine, transfer, distribution, and processing of animals.
Perform a variety of husbandry duties to maintain and monitor the health and physical environment for a colony of non-human primates. Perform and be proficient in basic technical skills (i.e. treatments, collection of biological samples, TB tests, etc.) Provide environmental enrichment for laboratory animals according to facility and Federal guidelines and perform husbandry duties as needed. Assist with training others to perform above tasks. Must have demonstrated ability to perform independently and work cooperatively with a team.
Minimum qualifications::
Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.).
Experience: 5-6 years related experience in a laboratory animal facility or AALAS ALAT certification and 4-5 years experience in a laboratory animal facility or AALAS Laboratory Animal Technician certification and 3-4 years experience in a laboratory animal facility, or AALAS Laboratory Animal Technologist certification.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.

During your apprenticeship, you are a full-time, paid employee who will complete a development program with the support of our coaching technicians and managers. Our agreement with you ensures you receive the following upon successful completion:
o Cummins Level 1 Technical Competency (minimum)
o Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree, Automotive & Diesel Technology
o No college debt – Cummins pays for your education
o U.S. Department of Labor Trade Certificates for Diesel Engines

Minimum Requirements:
o Applicants must meet minimum community college general education course requirement of 2.8 GPA high school (unweighted) or 22 ACT score.
OR have a
o GED with one year of college with minimum 2.8 GPA
o Ability to properly and safely use and maintain common hand tools and electrical testing equipment.
o Familiar with Windows and Microsoft Office 365 and Outlook (email)
Physical Requirements (times are approximate)
Standing 7.5 hours per day · Pushing/Pulling 4.0 hours per day · Sitting 1.5 hours per day · Lifting 1.5 hours per day · Lifting up to a maximum of 80 pounds · Bending 3.0 hours per day
Compensation and Benefits
Base hourly rate commensurate with experience . Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
