Market Research Analyst
Market Research Analyst works collaboratively with the Market & Learner Insights team and other departments to bring the voice of the prospective student into strategy development at Capella. These insights help drive strategy for marketing, degree programs, online experience and other initiatives. In this position, the Market Research Analyst will be responsible for designing, executing, analyzing and presenting qualitative and quantitative primary research projects both independently and under the supervision of the Manager of Market & Learner Insights.
Consult with internal business partners to understand a business problem and identify a primary market research solution.
Design, develop, execute, analyze and present findings from primary marketing research projects- both qualitative and quantitative.
Leverage statistical software to analyze data, including: merging data sources, cleaning data, running statistically analysis of data
Provide high quality reports and relevant insight to our internal clients that help to develop, position and launch new/existing programs and market the Capella brand.
Manage external third parties in designing, developing and executing primary market research activities.
Understand principles of marketing and advertising – such as positioning, differentiation, value proposition, etc.
Investigate higher education trends through secondary research
Oversee end to end client relationships and leadership role on projects (business problem, objective setting, methodology, execution, analysis, insights presentation)
Synthesizes data across projects and from multiple sources
Provide high quality reports/presentations and relevant insights to our Marketing and Markets & Products teams that help guide their work.
Activate insights to ensure teams are leveraging research in decision making
Be a knowledgeable resource and consultant for internal clients about prospect, learner and alumni research.
Ability to think strategically and encourage strategic dialogue
Bachelor degree in related field. Masters degree strongly preferred.
3+ years of experience in designing, developing, and executing and reporting primary research projects, both qualitative and quantitative.
Foundational knowledge of statistics.
Knowledge and experience using SPSS and/or SAS.
Must be fluent in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Familiarity with Qualtrics is a plus.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Lead Market Research Analyst (LMRA) is expected to build and maintain an exceptionally strong institutional knowledge base about our investment strategies and provide superior competitive and product research and analysis to global client facing professionals. The analysis requires an in-depth understanding of the current competitive landscape, related industry trends, TRP's institutional product set, and MPT stats. These analyses and recommendations are used by Sales, Client Service, Consultant Relations, Portfolio Specialists, and Portfolio Managers to support the gathering and retention of assets. Because of the nature of the markets, data may not be readily available through these types of mainstream analytical systems, in which case the analyst will be required to identify additional sources of data to complete analysis. Conducts and compiles research and produces summaries of key competitors' products on a monthly and quarterly basis. The competitor set will vary by product and country so the analyst working in conjunction with market facing associates, will be required to identify and analyze the relevant competitors. Compares competitor trends and analyzes impact on TRP products. Manages projects and Ad Hoc requests from sales and client service professionals for competitor and product research to assist in the sales and service process. Requires the LMA to fully understand the objective, independently conduct analysis, and prepare findings in a user-friendly format for the client facing associate, often under tight time constraints.
Market Research Projects – Responsible for completing research projects as directed by GIS Senior Management and Investment Management. After a high level overview of the project is provided by the senior manager, the LMRA is responsible for all aspects of the research project including identifying and validating data sources, identifying the scope of the research plan to meet defined objectives and ensuring the project meets objectives through periodic touchpoints with the senior manager. The analysis requires an in-depth understanding of the current competitive landscape, related industry trends, and TRP's product set.
