The Market Research Analyst role provides critical market, customer data and informational analysis, as well as managing sales strategy processes related to our identification, qualification and closing new business opportunities. The Market Research Analyst works directly with the commercial sales engagement team throughout the process steps of market analysis, targeting, proposing, and closing new sales opportunities. This role provides task leadership, information updates and management, scheduling, communication, and interaction with Business Development, Operations, and Client Retention.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Lead Market Research Analyst (LMRA) is expected to build and maintain an exceptionally strong institutional knowledge base about our investment strategies and provide superior competitive and product research and analysis to global client facing professionals. Analyses and identifies trends related to the strategic positioning of TRP products versus our competitors across various markets for our senior external facing professionals. Independently prepares analysis and recommendations conducted through a quantitative and qualitative perspective. The analysis requires an in-depth understanding of the current competitive landscape, related industry trends, TRP's institutional product set, and MPT stats. These analyses and recommendations are used by Sales, Client Service, Consultant Relations, Portfolio Specialists, and Portfolio Managers to support the gathering and retention of assets. Because of the nature of the markets, data may not be readily available through these types of mainstream analytical systems, in which case the analyst will be required to identify additional sources of data to complete analysis. Wherever possible, the analyst will be accountable for identifying appropriate analytical systems to complete their research. The analyst will be accountable for making the case for purchase to senior management of any relevant systems not currently contracted to TRP.
Conducts and compiles research and produces summaries of key competitors' products on a monthly and quarterly basis. The competitor set will vary by product and country so the analyst working in conjunction with market facing associates, will be required to identify and analyze the relevant competitors. Compares competitor trends and analyzes impact on TRP products. Manages projects and Ad Hoc requests from sales and client service professionals for competitor and product research to assist in the sales and service process. Requires the LMA to fully understand the objective, independently conduct analysis, and prepare findings in a user-friendly format for the client facing associate, often under tight time constraints.
Market Research Projects – Responsible for completing research projects as directed by GIS Senior Management and Investment Management. After a high level overview of the project is provided by the senior manager, the LMRA is responsible for all aspects of the research project including identifying and validating data sources, identifying the scope of the research plan to meet defined objectives and ensuring the project meets objectives through periodic touchpoints with the senior manager. The analysis requires an in-depth understanding of the current competitive landscape, related industry trends, and TRP's product set. The LMRA analyst will also be required to present the research to senior management and respond to questions and follow-up inquiries.
Identifies and assesses trends within the mutual fund and institutional investment management industries and shares compelling/analytical rationale behind recommendations. The quantitative analysis utilises sophisticated analytical systems such as eVestment, Zephyr, Morningstar Direct, Callan/Russell/Mercer consulting databases, and other portfolio analytic systems.
Market Research and Planning Projects – work with GIS marketing colleagues on projects including new product research and background for road-show presentations.

What we require of you:
Bachelor's degree with 5-7 years of experience, Associates degree with 7-10 years of experience
5 years of experience in Market Research and/or decision science
At least 3 years of experience in a corporate market research, new product research, or market research capacity, or marketing agency
Background in planning, designing, managing, analyzing, reporting of qualitative and quantitative research studies
Experience in designing research screeners/questionnaires
Knowledge of product development innovation process
Knowledge, experience, and interest in sustainability programs
Intermediate PC knowledge with MS Office programs (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint)
Previous demonstrated achievement of strong proficiency with written and verbal communications
Ability to present complex information internally and externally
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to handle multiple projects efficiently
Strong and effective written, oral, and interpersonal communications skills
