Job Summary: Perform racking and masking duties using paper/tape, or liquid masking techniques to meet production requirements under the direct supervision of the Masking Supervisor, Masking Lead, or a qualified trainer. Essential Functions include but are not limited to:
Read and understand work order requirements.

Apply paper/tape masking to production parts prior to chemical process and organic coating.
Apply liquid masking to production parts prior to chemical processing (Pre-Penetrant Etch and Anodize).
Pull plugs thru close-tolerance features prior to chemical processing (Pre-Penetrant Etch and Anodize).
Perform basic racking for prime and paint.
Unmask production parts, as needed, via paper/tape, liquid, or pull plugs.
Prepare parts for prime and paint operations by solvent cleaning, sanding, and taping.
Perform removal of tape residue during the paint prep operations.
Operate all in-house scales to verify quantities Other Job Duties include but are not limited to:
Keep masking areas clean and organized per company Ultraclean/6S requirements.
Adhere to all safety requirements, and use all required Personal Protective Equipment.
Handles customer-supplied product with care.
Maintain and reinforce LMI’s quality standards to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Available to work overtime when required, including weekends.

High School diploma or High School Equivalency required.
Previous experience in masking desired.
Must have ability to read and comprehend American English.

Paint 10-85 Masker - 3Rd Shift
Job Description At Hytek Finishes, we provide specialized surface treatments, chemical finishing and non-destructive testing to the aerospace and defense industry. We hold processing approvals for every major airframe manufacturer and process parts for a base of over 800 customers worldwide. - This is the entry-level position in our paint/1085 department. Paint helpers are responsible for preparing a variety of parts for painting.
This includes laying parts out on screens, pushing loaded screens in and out of paint booths/ovens, sanding parts, and generally assisting the painters. Hours for this position are training Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m.
2:30 p.m. Once training is complete, hours for this position are Sunday night through Friday morning, 10:00 p.m.

Standing for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment.

This position is primarily responsible for properly applying masking materials to repaired vehicles prior to application of refinish coatings. All masking materials are to be applied as to protect any panel that is not being refinished form direct application of coatings or overspray during the refinish process.
Job Responsibilities: Inspect all panels to be refinished for proper repair and paint preparation, as directed in Manheim s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Remove all dust and other contaminants from complete vehicle using air prior to application of masking material, as described in SOP. Apply masking materials as directed in SOP to properly protect all panels not being refinished from direct coating application or overspray.
Move properly masked vehicles into paint booth for refinish. Apply any required overall vehicle overspray protection (i.e., bag, spray mask, etc.). Prepare refinish panels for paint application using wax and grease remover or other surface prep defined in SOP. Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence. Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., assist supervisor in training and orienting new employees, perform housekeeping duties, etc
The function of a Masker is to efficiently and accurately mask parts in accordance to the pre-defined work order prior to the metal finishing process. Maskers apply tape, wax, paint, or other materials to aerospace parts using various equipment and tools.
Responsible for identifying and performing masking methods based on customer product specifications for various general plating processes and coatings/paint.

Employees in this position apply a variety of maskants to parts in preparation for painting. The hours for this position are training Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m.

6:30 a.m. Specific responsibilities include:
Communicates with the outgoing and oncoming shifts in masking to coordinate all jobs in process, or upcoming work. Works with the shift supervisor, customer service and other areas Inspects all paperwork, verifies the current operation, and ensures that all previous operations have been done. Notifies supervisor or quality assurance if there is an error.
Verifies the masking requirements and ensures proper staging of work. Refers to technique card and drawings to determine what area to mask and type of masking to use. Responsible for maintenance and accuracy of techniques cards.
Determines the flow of parts for the maskers to ensure quality and productivity. Coordinates the daily activities within the department. Maintains a continuous flow of parts to the maskers.
Once all parts have masked, checks the paperwork and completes job by scanning out of W.I.P. and moving the job to the next department. Maintains supplies for the masking department. Ensures maintenance of a clean work area.
