MATERIAL HANDLER/CRATE ASSEMBLER
- 6:50 a.m. to 3:20 p.m., Monday through Friday
Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor
JOB PURPOSE: This position is responsible to safely perform job functions at the highest level of quality. It is also responsible for providing accurate paperwork and record keeping. In addition, it assists in the construction of all crates for materials produced in Deland, Florida. Must have knowledge of Hazardous Waste Handling and have the ability to follow all company rules, policies and OSHA/EPA regulations. Must adhere to RCRA requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pick and stage material for production lines.
Receive inbound shipments.
Ship outbound material.
Load and unload material from various carriers.
Warehouse/SAP administration tasks.
Cycle count and physical inventory.
Housekeeping and other 5S activities.
Properly store all warehouse materials.
Must be knowledgeable of Hazardous Waste Handling.
Select specified type of lumber and materials.
Marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
Shapes materials to prescribed measurements.
Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails or staples.
Responsibility and adherence of RCRA requirements.
All related/corresponding activities.
Use computers and scanners to perform transactions.
Interpret work order and sales order material/delivery requirements.
Follow and abide by defined business processes and procedures.
Work with members of supply chain to resolve issues and improve processes.
Communicate professionally with others.
Responsible for accurate and complete inventory transactions in SAP.
Investigate and correct transactions as required.
Maintain a safe work area, participate in safety training and follow all defined OSHA guidelines.
Report all accidents/incidents and unsafe work conditions to supervisor.
Participate on continuous improvement teams.
Assist with the training of other material handlers.
Work to gain knowledge of all warehouse activities.
Perform tasks accurately and timely.
Participate in the updates/maintenance of organizational KPIs.
Work with limited supervision.
Other duties as assigned.
Forklift experience preferred; must pass Pall certification requirements.
Must be familiar with other warehouse equipment to included pallet jacks, docking stations, scales.
Computer skills required; SAP experience preferred.
Must be able to work any shift and be flexible to work overtime as needed.
HazMat experience preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Must be able to work in a warehouse environment, which requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, kneeling and lifting 50lbs on a regular basis.
Ability to build bases and walls in preparation for the final crate assembly.
Knowledge of carpentry tools.
Three years of material handling and assembler experience, shipping and receiving experience preferred.
Understanding of requirements for LTL, small parcel, exports, UPS/FedEx.
High school diploma or GED required.
Must be able to speak, read and write in English.

MATERIAL HANDLER/KIT ASSEMBLER
Support Systems Associates Inc. is a privately owned, nationwide company that specializes in engineering, logistics, production, and management services to both Government and industry. Our corporate offices are located in Melbourne, FL. We have facilities in Huntsville, AL and Warner Robins, GA.
Our Huntsville facility is located in the JetPlex Industrial Park at the Huntsville International Airport and includes office and manufacturing space to support production and maintenance of mission systems and aircraft modification kits in addition to a variety of logistics inventory needs. This operation is currently executing multiple programs with structural and electrical fabrication, kitting, final assembly, and aircraft modifications via field teams.
Our Warner Robins facility is located in The Park off Russell Parkway and includes office and some light manufacturing space to support production and maintenance of systems similar to those in our Huntsville facility. This operation is currently executing multiple programs which provide engineering and logistics services for the modification of aircraft.
SSAI is certified to ISO 9001:2008, AS9100C and AS9110B. SSAI's core capabilities include mechanical, electrical, and electronic design, test, avionics engineering, software engineering, aircraft modification design/installation, modification kit production, and related logistics services.

Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand. Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit, using various hand tools.
Opens and seals crates, boxes, cartons, and other containers using hammers, crowbars, cutting tools and tape. Collects and sorts or stacks inventory. Places reusable items in containers, and appropriately disposes of waste.

- Perform short cycle, highly repetitive hand assembly operation of various styles and sizes of product parts which may be frames, preforms, bottoms, ground pins, lead frames, beads, pins, eyelets to carbon molds or to each other, following prescribed methods.
- Use a variety of hand tools including tweezers, magnets, mallets, vibrator, magazines, carbon molds, stands, glass beads, and tape machine. Use finger cots to prevent contamination of parts.
- Place molds in trays or on cardboard after completion of operation and tape.
- Orientation of heads may be by automation or hand prep for assembly to pins or eyelets.
- Work from flowsheet folder, blueprint specifications, process sheets, written and/or verbal instructions.
- Operate lead-cutting machine to trim lead frames to proper size as specified by customer.
- Use magnifier and related equipment and materials.
- Perform additional assembly work as directed.
- Move materials as necessary in performance of duties. May also be moved by others.
- Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to group leader or supervisor.
- Maintain established quality standards and follow quality procedures.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports as required.
- Ensure that work area and equipment are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition, that prescribed safety measures are followed, and that established company policies and procedures are adhered to.

Embrace and drive a CIP environment in your area of responsibility and throughout the organization. Practice good housekeeping in and around your work area. This includes preventative maintenance. Complete yellow belt training. Supports and participates in CIP projects when required or initiates projects. Uses STAR (Stop, Think, Act, Review).
(5) TIME MANAGEMENT & ATTENDANCE
Work fair share of overtime to meet schedule and shop dates. Work Saturdays and/or weekends when required. Maintains overall good attendance (not leaving work area & quitting early in order to minimize no-pay hours, no extended breaks or lunches, reports to work on time and is at work station ready to start work at scheduled starting time).
Education: High school diploma or GED is required
