Job Title: Laboratory Technician III
Job Location: Houston, Texas
Intertek's oil and gas upstream exploration and production services offer independent integrated laboratory testing and solutions for reservoir and production optimization. The upstream services we offer extend from concept and design to testing and solutions, in the areas of enhanced oil and gas recovery, PVT and reservoir fluid phase behavior, special core analysis, petroleum geology and geochemistry, reservoir formation evaluation, flow assurance and production chemistry, drilling and completion fluids evaluation, and field and wellsite services.
Under moderate supervision, this position is responsible for performing the routine duties necessary to ensure that laboratory services are of the highest quality, and to ensure that such services are provided in a timely, safe, legal, and ethical manner.
Receive, examine, and record through a log-in process, inbound items for testing.
Deliver test samples to the sample staging area.
Monitor the availability of the supplies needed for the testing processes, and make any needs for such supplies known to Laboratory Management.
Prepare samples and quality control specimens, prepare and standardize reagents and solutions, and calibrate equipment needed for the testing processes.
Perform testing of samples and quality control specimens using specified methodology.
Verify and communicate the results obtained, and make the appropriate entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records, laboratory worksheets, and any other media, whether print or electronic, required to ensure the validity and traceability of the information.
Maintain documentation, equipment, and work areas in a neat and orderly condition.
Assist in the training of less experienced employees.
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Earth Science, Petroleum Engineering, or several years of relevant work experience.
3+ years of prior laboratory experience in core analysis or advanced core analysis with various degrees of exposure to: steady-state permeability, unsteady-state permeability, rock-fluid compatibility, formation damage, CT and X-ray scanning, electrical properties, rock mechanics, NMR, centrifuge capillary pressure, and mercury injection capillary pressure.
Must have a grasp of basic mathematics, and must be trainable in the practical aspects of the job.
Must be physically able to do the work required; some heavy lifting, working with high temperatures (>300F) and high pressure (>20Kpsi) equipment.
Perform work safely while handling crude oils, gases, acids, and other oil field chemicals under temperature and pressure.
Possess a mechanical aptitude and exposure to data acquisition software a solid plus.
Able to use Excel and Word to record and process lab data.
Ability to adapt to changing business and technical needs is a critical attribute necessary for the successful candidate. Must be willing to work on holidays or weekends.

Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Technician
The Medical Technologist (MT/CLS)/Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) performs routine and complex analytical tests on human body fluids and tissues to provide accurate data to the health care team for optimal diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of disease states. The MT is capable of performing all of the tests in a single section or most of the tests in all clinical laboratory sections: bacteriology, immunohematology, chemistry, hematology, parasitology, serology and urinalysis.
Under general supervision of a Pathologist and other supervision, and in accordance with Company policies, procedures and guidelines, this position:
Performs routine laboratory test procedures as outlined in the laboratory standard operating procedure manuals and reports test results. Adheres to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing
Correlates clinical information and/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to Medical Technologist, Sr. or supervisors. Consults with superiors or pathologist when no preset criteria for decision-making is available before taking action
Collects and directs the collection of specimens with rigid attention to proper patient identification, priority status and hospital and laboratory safety and infection control policies for clinical testing
Maintains and operates lab equipment; able to detect malfunctions as they occur by review of instruments results. Troubleshoots the problem with technologist or service representative assistance
Ensures appropriate lab supplies are always on hand in their assigned area or department
May be rotated to other lab locations or shifts as necessary
Trains or instructs laboratory personnel in performance of lab tests and procedures where assigned
Participates in developmental work on new tests
Participates in established TQM activities, QC testing of lab reagents and maintenance of equipment. Follows protocol for running and documenting control values. Collects, evaluates, and reports quality management data in order to monitor and improve laboratory performance
Attends and participates in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge and enhance professional excellence. Willingly shares knowledge and provides clinical orientation to other members of the staff
Trains students from affiliated programs or new employees as assigned
Works closely with all laboratory personnel to ensure timely client service and accurate test results
Participates in Job Competency/Skills Check program
Maintains open communication with supervisors, pathologists, and fellow employees to ensure optimal operation of department. Communicates pertinent information to other members of the health care team in a clinically relevant time frame to enhance the lab's contribution to patient care

Valid and current State of Hawaii license as a MT (CLS) or MLT
Basic computer knowledge (Word and Excel) and skills in lab information systems is desirable
Previous specialized experience in microbiology and blood banking is preferred for MT/MLT assigned to specific departments

Laboratory Technician III (AAT B, Non-Exempt):
To set up and conduct a variety of laboratory and field tests and experiments by applying established methods, procedures and techniques in support of research studies. These studies, using techniques of yeast biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, are directed at understanding the mechanisms of eukaryotic transcriptional regulation.
Research Assistant I (AAT C, Non-Exempt):
To set up and conduct a variety of laboratory experiments by applying established methods, procedures, and techniques in support of research studies. These studies, using techniques of yeast biochemistry, genetics and molecular biology, are directed at understanding the mechanisms of fungal pathogenesis and eukaryotic transcriptional regulation.
Associate Laboratory Technician
The Laboratory Technician reports to the Laboratory Supervisor, Technical Services, and performs the Laboratory daily activities in the facility. The Laboratory Technician performs analytical tests, ensures that analytical information is factual, accurate, and timely for the safe, reliable and efficient Plant Operations, and understands business objectives so that the facility operates in support of business needs. The Laboratory Technician performs duties in a 12-hour daily rotational shift environment, including holidays, weekends, and nights.
Knowledge and understanding of a variety of standard laboratory practices, procedures and chemistry techniques. The ability to demonstrated knowledge of laboratory equipment and terminology, including gas chromatography, titration and inductively coupled plasma (ICP). Knowledge of oil & gas international analytical standards (ISO, GPA, ASTM, etc.). Familiar with laboratory hazards and safety practices. Knowledge of ISO 17025, uncertainties calculation, methods' validation and all related procedures to the Quality Management System. Familiar with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Receive and record samples through the log-in process.
Perform routine and non-routine laboratory analyses to determine all process parameters per the Analytical Schedule providing accurate and timely analytical results.
Operate and maintain lab equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies.
Monitor the availability of the supplies needed for analysis, and to make any needs for such supplies known to Laboratory Supervisor through proper procedure.
Responsible for maintaining documentation, equipment and laboratory in a clean and orderly condition. Dispose of waste by proper procedure.
Follow the documented laboratory methods for sampling and testing of LNG and other hydrocarbon process streams, amine, water treatment systems, and other special samples without deviation of procedure.
Participate in the maintenance of the Laboratory Quality Management System. Achieve and maintain accreditation to the required level.
Utilize the Lab Information Management System (LIMS) for data management.
Comply with the reporting system that meets the needs of the Quality Management System, required regulatory reporting and Company's internal customers.
Comply with quality assurance and quality control of laboratory measurements and analyses.
Comply with appropriate analytical techniques to help troubleshoot process problems.
Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.

The Facility Maintenance Technician functions as a member of the Campus Enterprises team to provide oversight for the following systems including primarily BAS and HVAC. Also provides guidance to others for installation, troubleshoot, repair, maintain operation of heating, venting, air conditioning and refrigeration systems (HVAC/R) and the associated auxiliary equipment, controls, components, and hydronic systems that would be found in a commercial, industrial or large university setting.
