Our Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in the delivery of patient care through the gathering of information during the clinical process under supervision of Registered Nurses. Assists all nurses with performing activities commensurate with his/her education and demonstrated competencies.

Currently certified as a Medical Assistant in the State if certification is required by the State
For states that do not require this position to be certified, a certification is not required
Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
Responsibilities Consult with and is responsible to RN's and other staff as appropriate. Implements clinical and technical aspects of care in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Intervenes with proper technique, procedures and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patient. Participates in gathering information on patient history. Verifies medications.
Makes appropriate referrals for follow-up. Adhere to work the work schedule as designated by your supervisor to ensure continuity of care for the patient and maintenance of staffing matrix for the client. Respond to code, or patient crisis as set forth by the sites policy and procedure.
Assists health care practitioner as assigned. Adhere to infection control techniques and principles. Provides for emotional and physical comfort and safety of patients.
Assists in maintaining working areas, supplies, and equipment in good working order. Attends mandatory staff meetings/ training. Respects dignity and confidentiality of patients.
Must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis. Post orders, if applicable, per site contract. Perform other duties as assigned.

Under the direction of a Physician, NP, Manager or Director and Clinical lead, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient care and technical duties to support the work of the Clinicians and to facilitate delivery of care and education to patients. The Medical Assistant works closely with the professional staff to provide care and diagnostic testing for adult patients. Electronc medical record and physician office experience preferred.
Principal Duties and Essential Functions:
Escorts patients to exam rooms and provides direct patient care.
Prepares patient exam rooms to ensure they are ready for patients and doctors. Keeps the exam rooms stocked with supplies needed to perform patient assessments. Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean.
Performs diagnostic testing which may include but is not limited to, urine collection, phlebotomy, EKG, etc., as ordered.
Records vital signs and assists Physician with patient exams. Enters all data into electronic health record.
Complies with all PQRS, Meaningful Use and other Quality requirements (required vitals, e-prescribing, etc).
Reports all pertinent observations to Physician, Office Manager, Director, or other health team member.
Coordinates surgical bookings, ancillary testing, and consultations as necessary.
Follows up with patients on test results, rx refills, and assists with patient education.
Functions as a liaison between the patient and their family and the health care team.
Performs other related duties as required. Supports front desk duties as needed (mail, fax inbox, phones, check in, co-pay collection, etc.)

Maintains patient flow by assisting and promoting the delivery of primary and preventative healthcare. Performs technical procedures, lab protocols, and clinically oriented activities under physician/provider direction.
Must be able to perform diagnostic testing, EKGs, administer injections, obtain vital signs, demonstrate safe medication handling and administration, navigate Epic One Chart electronic health record, and assist with minor surgical procedures.
High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or LPN, EMT, ER Tech, Paramedic certification or equivalent and relevant experience required.
Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification from the American Heart Association.
Job specific duties for this position:
