Melter Technician (Alloy) - Weekend & Off Shifts
Job Description: POSITION OVERVIEW
Melt tech will be responsible for daily operation of the vacuum furnaces
ENVIORNMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITES
Expected to assist in the implementation of EHS Values and policy statements and accompanying principals.
Comply with all department, facility, corporate and regulatory EHS regulations.
Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Report all job-related illness and injuries (Per Employee Handbook).
Report all safety, health and environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner.
Attend all EHS training.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Address any Safety concerns promptly.
Melting unit operation (pumps blower's etc.).
Monitor operation of equipment and perform adjustments as needed to insure equipment effectiveness
Furnish Lab prelim requirements.
Document and maintain accurate records and logs and maintain a clean and orderly work environment
Perform minor and preventative maintenance on equipment
Install, remove, and monitor operation of preheat torches
Follow all Melting techniques (Al's, Melt Practices).
Perform metal weighing of additions (if qualified) and or verify prelim additions are correct
Some data entry of melt card/log required.
May be required to assist on multiple furnaces during the course of a work day.
Perform coil changes which will include confined space, LTV and operating the overhead crane to remove and install coils.
Perform emergency and remedial procedures which may arise during the melting process.
Assist in the training of new team members
Paperwork and record keeping.
Spout and entry changes.
Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
Run the tube cleaner and keep area clean
Hot top molds and clean molds as required
Performing other duties as assigned by department leaders or supervisor.

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS / EQUIPMENT USED
Personal protective equipment including, but not limited to safety glasses, safety shoes, hardhat, hearing protection and clothing.
Donning of air purifying respirator.
Training, comprehension and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Johns Manville is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Process Engineer. This position is located in our fiber glass manufacturing facility located in Winder, GA which is located just Northeast of Atlanta.
This key role has overall responsibility for process optimization and provides technical support and leadership within the department. Develops and implements best practices to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost reduction. Provides technical/practical/hands on support for process improvements including mechanical improvements, process parameter optimization, and trials of new technologies or products. The Process Engineer supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
Reviews daily production and quality data and acts to resolve any issues or bottlenecks.
Responsible for implementing manufacturing processes, troubleshooting existing processes or equipment issues, and data collection and analysis.
Drives productivity projects and responsible for scoping, implementing, and measuring cost out opportunities.
Participates in training program for hourly personnel and develops and maintains documentation associated with functional area.
Manages equipment and product trails, interprets results, and makes recommendations on path forward.
Maintains knowledge of new processes, process equipment, process control equipment, inspection and test methods, and the associated costs of these new techniques.
Assists key personnel in outage planning and operational scheduling. Leads oven cleanout process, melter rebuilds, and other major events.
Implements process engineering and maintenance improvement programs required to meet OSHA/JM safety requirements.
Develops and maintains standard work instructions, process SOP's, productivity guidelines, etc.
BS Engineering Degree, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Ceramic Engineering.
Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in industrial process role.
Minimum of 2 years in continuous industrial operation.
Demonstrated ability to lead cost savings projects.
Experience with executing process optimization initiatives ranging from classical process engineering to advanced process controls.
Demonstrated collaboration skills including the ability to interact with a broad range of employees.
Ability to train and develop employees and transfer technical knowledge to both hourly and salary personnel.
Strong statistical process control understanding and proven ability to apply concepts to manufacturing line.
Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Excellent communications skills both verbal and written.

Haul snow off site (driving to off-campus location and dumping snow; operating dump truck, skid steer, and end loader)
4.Work Order Completion
- Supporting Action/Task May Include:
Furniture and equipment moves, pickups and deliveries
Skilled trades and vehicle maintenance
Computer and operating systems knowledge along with understanding operating instructions for cleaning equipment and vehicles
5.Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
High School Diploma
Some technical college education would be beneficial
Minimum Experience Requirements:
- One year preferred in a custodial related position
- Physical (ability to pick up and carry 50 lbs, standing for prolonged periods of time)
- Valid Driver's License

MEASURE OF SUCCESS
Oversee Repete Batching System to achieve specified percentage blend of ingredients per formula for liquid and powder components under general direction of Plant Manager.
Add micro nutrients by hand to blend weighing/measuring specified quantities of powder concentrate insecticides.
Monitor bagger hopper volumes to assure line is continuously supplies with product.
Enter production volumes using the work order number document activities.
Instructs or changes inkjet coders to assure that packaging is properly identified.
Perform other duties as assigned when mixing is completed including general housekeeping, maintenance, bag labeling, bagging, sealing, stacking, etc.
Keep control room clean.
Assist in locking up.
Able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES / WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is performed in factory office environment involving either sitting or standing and walking throughout the shift depending on the activity which is being performed.
Presence of airborne dust may require use of dust mask respirators depending on the type of product being handled in hand weighing/measuring process.
Operator must be able to follow formulas including calculating percentages and adding and subtracting. Accurate record keeping is essential in this position.
