Job Introduction Essential Duties
Perform basic journey-level fabrication operations involving conventional sheet metal shop equipment, welding processes and related manufacturing equipment.
Use basic welding and conventional sheet metal shop tools, measuring tools, and shop accessories.
Perform shop calculations utilizing knowledge of material characteristics to determine overall design intent.
Provide solutions or alternative approaches to solve basic technical manufacturing problems.
Assemble metal components to prepare for welding.
Fabricate fixtures and holding devices used during welding and manufacturing processes.
Provide general shop support activities in support of Area Shops.
Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.
- May be required to work with radioactive, toxic or high explosive materials.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Basic Journeyman level experience equivalent to completion of an apprenticeship program in the fabrication technology.
Basic experience using related shop equipment, hand tools, and measuring instruments.
Basic knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 drafting standards (read and interpret blueprints) to produce parts and assemblies.
Basic technical knowledge in sheet metal operations, procedures, standards, and techniques in a variety of materials and related equipment (e.g., MIG, TIG welding).
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Experience welding of both thick and thin materials (e.g., .125" Stainless Steel - 2" Aluminum)
- Experience with machine shop tools and precision fabrications.
Pre-Placement Medical Exam: A job related pre-placement medical examination may be required.

This position may require the successful candidate have the flexibility to work overtime, shift and or weekends to accomplish goals. The successful candidate will be required to pass various on-site training modules to pursue work assignments.

KEY ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Insulates and assembles product for delivery
Identifies and calculates amount of materials, thickness, size, etc., required for product
Completes usage forms and logs completed orders
Sets up and operates all machinery and hand tools needed to complete product
Forms all shapes and sizes of sheet metal as per drawings or work instructions
Changes dies and performs basic machine maintenance as required
Verifies dimensions of work piece
Other duties may be assigned

We're currently seeking to hire either a part-time or full-time Metal Fabricator. Responsibilities include:
Fabricate a variety of items from small home projects to large industrial needs. Heavy focus on non-welding fabrication.
Solder, and hand rivet materials.
Inspect completed products to ensure accuracy according to shop drawing and/or blue print.
Select appropriate type of metal and gauge required to fabricate items.
Determine the best use of the material to limit waste when cutting the flat sheet.
Operate tools and equipment such as snips, power hand shear, nibbler, stomp shear, and CNC shear.
Operate fabricating machines such as hand tongs, hand brake, box and pan brake, and CNC Autobrake.
Use scriber's, dividers, and squares to mark dimensions on materials.
Load and unload trucks.
At least one of year of fabrication experience preferred.
Ability to read shop drawings and/or blue prints.
Ability to operate a forklift.
Work skillfully with tools, metals, and machinery.
Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
Working knowledge of basic math skills for material calculations and programing.
Within 120 days, obtain basic hand tools such as left/right hand snips, tape measure, hammer, speed square, and hand rivet gun. All other tools will be provided.

To adjust and operate computer numerically controlled machines relating to sheet metal fabrication which could include lasers and press brakes.
To perform program editing and occasional programming of laser when appropriate.
To program and run CNC press brake.
To utilize and operate proper material handling equipment.
To operate any auxiliary machines as assigned.
Responsible for own set-ups and inspection of parts produced.
Parts must be made to print and process specifications.
Responsible for all safety rules, operator preventive maintenance, producing quality workmanship, and for good housekeeping in and around the work area.
Completion of all associated paperwork and record keeping as required.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Core skills training in basic shop math, measuring tools and blueprint reading or demonstrated equivalent knowledge is required.
Additional required courses include: Progressional CNC training, Sheet Metal I, II and III or demonstrated equivalent knowledge.
