This position has responsibility and authority to perform all metal finishing functions, heat treatment, surface finishing and electro-polishing. Finishing production and/or prototype devices/articles/customer products, stainless steel, titanium and plastic, using manual or mechanical finishing equipment (polishing belts and wheels, vapor blasting, annealing oven, grinding wheels, chemical bathes, surface abrasive vibratory equipment) and standard electro-polishing equipment applying industry standard metal finishing techniques ensuring that the customer product requirements and Tegra Medical requirements are met while meeting the requirements of the quality policy and quality objective of Tegra Medical ISO 13485 quality management system.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
Perform metal finishing job assignments, heat treating or surface finishing as identified on the job router and the accompanying print.
Perform metal finishing per customer specification as directed by router and print.
Maintain metal finishing equipment as required by preventive maintenance procedures or manufacturers manual
Maintain chemical bathes to strip and polish metal parts.
Maintain chemical vibratory bath.
Maintain appropriate metal finishing supplies.
Inspect, measure and test metal finished product.
Determine whether product meets/conforms to the product specifications.
Follow the procedures of the Tegra Medical QMS applicable to this job function.
Follow the applicable customer procedures applicable to this job function and/or specified by the print or router.
Follow Tegra Medical safety and environmental procedures.
Follow written and verbal directions from supervisor.
Perform non-routine task assigned by supervisor and/or management.

Performs various skilled tasks necessary to metal finish component parts, transportation tanks and bottles during the production process. Completes assigned duties in accordance with safety policies and practices. This includes regard to individual safety, the safety of other team members, and the safe use of equipment and safeguards in the workplace
Wears approved personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses with side shields, hearing protection, respirators, etc.

Metal Finisher - 2Nd Shift
To perform all required operations to process product components through a variety of chemical processes with a high degree of quality and finish expectations to satisfy customer requirements.
- Metal Cleaning Equipment
- Routinely utilizes a variety of metal cleaning equipment such as ultrasonic tanks, internal/external electro-polishing, passivation tanks, and various soap and rinse tanks.
- Processes and Procedures
- Ensures that metal finishing processes and procedures are complied with in order to produce acceptable quality finishes on various metals, maintain records, utilize test equipment to maintain appropriate chemical balances, temperatures, cleanliness, and ensure a quality finish on materials. Performs routine maintenance on metal finishing equipment to include the neutralization equipment and the RO system.
- Weld Prep and Weld Clean
- Performs internal EP/PEP, and internal and external weld clean according to work instructions and performs the necessary OSI using sight pipes, fiber optics, and light sources.
- Productivity and Efficiency
- Seeks and recommends ways to eliminate potential quality problems, to improve procedures and methods, to increase department and division productivity utilizing TQ problem solving techniques, including SPC, in daily work assignments. Understands the work flow of the area in order to move the products in a continuous fashion, while maintaining the quality of the product and being productive in order to adhere to required ship dates.

- Ensures special handling requirements are followed and delicate handling of components takes place as specified.
- Materials and Safety
- Ensures that proper procedures are adhered to when storing, handling, and disposing of hazardous materials. Ensures that safe work procedures are followed and proper safety equipment is used when required.
- Process Improvement
- Communicates and supports the "Cell" team and continuous improvement concepts by suggesting changes/improvements of set-ups and work instructions. Assists in creation and control of these work instructions in accordance with the Process Change/Control policy.
- Waste Management
- Is responsible for assuring that all requirements regarding the collection, storage, handling, disposal, recycling and shipping of waste are conformed within accordance with the written Waste Management Operating Procedures, EPA requirements and Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Set up and operate standard manufacturing equipment.
Deburr, buff, or polish materials to specifications.
Examines and feels surface of work products part for defects.
Removal of defects, scratches, excess weld material, and burs to produce a smooth unmarred surface.
Selects grade of abrasive disks, wheels, and belts according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and condition of metal, and attaches to grinder.
Replaces worn abrasive disks, wheels, and belts.
Prepare products for secondary operations such as powder coating and plating by achieving a Class A finish without any cosmetic flaws.
Use of precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions of product for accuracy and conformance to specifications.
Ensure that safety devices are operative.

To prepare patterns for assembly and to prepare soluble cores for pattern molding; wax welds multiple components using fixtures to maintain dimensional conformity; repairs wax patterns and soluble cores in accordance with quality standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Objective: to assemble pattern components and/or make dimensional alterations to patterns.
A. Reads techcards and engineering instructions.
B. Assembles wax components into visually and dimensionally acceptable patterns; may use specialized fixturing.
C. Modifies patterns or soluble cores using various hand tools and wax materials.
D. Inspects modifications with special gauges and other measuring devises.
E. Occasionally inserts ceramic cores in wax patterns and maintains dimensional integrity (TBO only).
Objective: to fix broken or damaged patterns and soluble cores and restore to dimensionally acceptable condition.
A. Replaces broken features by wax welding fragments or by using other wax supplies to reconstruct missing areas.
B. Fills voids and reforms damaged contours by attaching and shaping stock wax.
Objective: to work patterns and soluable core surfaces to meet visual inspection criteria.
A. Removes flash, mismatch and other surface positives using a variety of hand tools and materials.

Cement Finisher - T11308-201901
Cement Finisher positions participate in the work of a crew in site preparation for a variety of concrete projects; read and interpret plans and standard drawings; design and build forms; place and finish concrete projects such as catch basins, curbs, cross gutters, sidewalks, steps, storm drains, vaults, walls, and other similar concrete projects using floats, jointers, screeds, trowels, and other tools; repair broken concrete; complete forms; drive pick-up, flat-bed, and small dump trucks; and perform other duties as assigned.
- Cement Finisher employees may be required to work overtime, including weekends and holidays.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: You must meet ONE of the following options:
Successful completion of a state-accredited three-year Cement Mason Apprenticeship Program.
Three years of full-time cement finishing experience under the direction of a journey-level cement finisher. Qualifying experience MUST include reading plans and drawings, building and setting forms, and finishing cement on a variety of concrete projects.
- City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.
LICENSE: A valid California Class C Driver License is required at time of hire.
- Some positions may require a California Class B License AND a valid California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) medical certificate dated within the last two years at the time of hire or within six months of hire.
Experience in operating a Transit and/or Laser Level used in the layout and construction of curbs, gutters, sidewalks and other infrastructure improvements.
Experience installing masonry retaining walls and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramps.
