Set up and operate and/or assist in operation of processing and fabrication equipment on a variety of insulation materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND REPSONSIBILITIES Include the following.
Set and operate all insulation processing equipment such as: towers, treaters, slitters, presses, roll coater, laminator etc. Also will occasionally operate equipment normally operated by lower rated process operators.
Material handling and storage equipment, hand tools, measuring and testing equipment personal protective equipment.
Flake Mica,Mica mat, varnish, glass cloth, paper, Mylar, cotton cloth, wrapping paper, masking tape, recording charts, filter paper, caustic water solvents, silicone rubber, butyl rubber, polyethylene, polyester resins, varnish, catalysts, silicone oil, hi-temperature grease, hydraulic oil, wrench, glass string, downtherm oil, mica mush.
Direct activities of one helper, on occasion two.
Working from schedules, batch cards, standing instructions, process instructions, etc. obtain materials and supply equipment by such things as setting up drums with pumps, mounting rolls, setting valves, filling troughs, etc. Set-up machines by such things as setting gaps, leveling rolls, setting speeds and temperatures, threading materials, and positioning charts and setting tensions, etc.
Start equipment, including auxiliary ventilating and vacuum systems. Interleave additional materials as required.
Synchronize speed and begin run. Observe operations closely making adjustments as needed to such as tensions, temperatures, speeds, rolls speeds, gaps, etc. Test or take material to lab for test. Adjust again as needed to meet requirements, integrating variables to achieve proper results.
Supply material by weighing and/or mixing such things as powdered resins, catalysts, varnishes and thinners preparing lay-ups, threading machine, filling troughs, mounting rolls, etc. Operate equipment using such things as valves, push buttons, levers, etc. including starting auxiliary ventilating and vacuum systems to mix, coat, bake, dry, etc.
Follow cycles and observe operations closely making adjustments to speeds, feeds, dies, etc. as required to connect bore spots, wrinkles, tears, etc. Test product or take for test and adjust as required.
Unload equipment manually or with hoist, disposing of material in bags, boxes, racks, pallets, etc. Identify all material and record data as required.
Perform all operations to ordinary tolerance within ordinary limits of capability for facilities on a variety of insulation materials such as resins, rubbers, tapes, mica sheet and mica rolls, glass cloth, mica mat, coated cloth, paper etc.
Keep facilities, materials, and work area orderly exercising care in the their use. Perform routines cleaning and maintenance of equipment, maintaining general good housekeeping practices and conforming to all safety and quality requirements.

Plate Mounter / Plate Librarian
Responsible for the daily maintenance and upkeep of plates and the plate room, ensuring that plates are available and accessible for all areas of production; includes manufacturing and mounting plates onto printing cylinders for upcoming jobs, and maintaining the inventory and catalog of press plates that are used in the print room. This includes pulling and assembling plate jackets for kitting and maintaining the library inventory. Prioritizes job jackets to meet press room needs.
Role and Responsibilities:
Monitors production schedule to pull and file plates in advance.
Alerts scheduling to have orders run together that have similar plates, dies, etc.
Files and cleans plates daily.
Ensures plate jackets are updated with current item numbers and Vision system numbers.
Pulls correct tooling as documented on Work Instructions.
Examines cylinders prior to mounting to ensure they are defect free and have good gears and bearings.
Ensures the proper cylinder is used (hard case, A-B-C) and cylinders are of the correct tooth size & correct undercut prior to use.
Checks plates for defects prior to mounting. Informs plate making of the defect and requests new plates be made.
Mounts correct quantity and number of plates based off listed colors and guidelines for production.
Follows Vision press schedule and pulls all orders ahead of production schedule.
Checks plates for defects, such as worn plate, missing type, cracks and creases.
Completes proper paperwork for standard work and pharmaceutical orders, such as First Article Sign-Off sheet.
Makes sure plate jackets are updated with current labels.
Prepare plate transfers between plants.
Be available to work overtime as needed.
Required to work 12 hour shifts; required to work weekends as scheduled on a regular or as-needed basis.

PSNC Energy, A SCANA Company, is a regulated public utility engaged primarily in transporting, distributing and selling natural gas to approximately 552,000 customers throughout a 28-county service area in the north central, Piedmont and western areas of North Carolina. This Construction & Maintenance Department position is located in PSNC Energy's Apex Operations Center. The Construction & Maintenance Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operation of the Company's natural gas distribution system.
The Construction and Maintenance Specialist installs pipe in ditches, manually digs around utilities, and pressure tests steel and plastic lines. This position is also responsible for participating in repair of third party damage to natural gas lines and various types of gas leaks, completing pipe maintenance activities, safely driving a company vehicle, setting up common Department of Transportation approved work sites and flagging traffic, maintaining truck inventory, and installing test charts.
Position may also require locating and operating activities. Duties are performed while working outside in varying weather conditions, may require the use of self-contained breathing apparatus equipment, and require some heavy lifting up to 70 lbs.
The successful candidate will possess a High School diploma (from a high school accredited by an organization that is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or one of the entities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education) or GED, a good mechanical aptitude including experience with common hand and power tools, the ability to use self-contained breathing apparatus equipment, a demonstrated knowledge of safety procedures, effective communication skills for customer interactions, and a willingness to work with others in a team environment.
A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License within six months of employment are also required. Candidate will be expected to be available for natural gas emergency response after normal working hours, as needed. Basic computer skills are preferred. Bilingual candidates are preferred.
